If you don't use your fire at home, would you still get a guard to stop LO going near the fire? Just thinking if Jack was to think it is ok to go near our fire, then it will be ok to go near others that may be on? What do you think?

We are planning to teach Alexa that she is not allowed to go near the fireplace whether or not there is a fire going. Our friends who have a 15 month old have taught their daughter to stay away, so that is what we are hoping will work with Alexa.

We're doing the same as PP - We only have a gas fire but still won't let her near it :)

Ally isn't moving yet but when he does, I'll put a fireguard over it even if it isn't on. I'd like to teach him not to go near it at all (not using fireguard) but I don't know if I could do it and not constantly be worrying and be anxious about it.

my fire is not working so i wasent going to cover it up

I have an electric fire and even though I hardly ever turn it on,I will put a fireplace guard since the fire is turned on with a push of a button and it's quite dangerous.
