Hi Girls

Really looking for some info from you girls as I know you will know far more than my doctor!!

I just had my 21 day blood test results and all was normal apart from the doctor said my progesterone was "a bit low". Hes now going to refer me to gyny but said this will take up to 17 weeks.

When I asked him what this actually meant he just said "it can mean your not ovulating but dont worry there are things we can do"....until he said this I was sure by opk/temp/monitor confirmation that I was ovulating

Can anyone tell me anymore about this?

Also I think my second test was mis-timed and was 10 days before my period not 7 days, so this was only 3 days after ovulation, does this mean that there was not enough time for the progesterone to have build up and thats why it looked low?

Any info would be greatly received.

It might help if you knew the #. But yes, if it was taken only 3 days after O then that can effect the results. The thing is, is that progesterone is at it's peak, highest value at 7dpo and then tapers off after that. If you literally have a bi-phasic temp chart, with 2 distinct sections, then I would say you could be 99% sure you do in fact O. However, that doesn't mean you O well (I don't O well but I do have a temp shift after O), and you could need help with that, usually with clomid or injectables.

Hi, I went back to the docs to get the figures and at 3dpo it was 28.6nmol/l is this normal?

I don't understand all the numbers you have there, is that a typo? I did look uL the 28.6 nmol/l. If it was in fact taken at 3 DPO or even 4 DPO, then that is a completely normal value and would still mean that you O'd. If it was actually a 7 DPO value the it would still mean that you ovulated but that your values are very low and you have poor ovulation.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progesterone Read under the 'Levels' section. It says, "Progesterone levels tend to be < 2*ng/ml prior to ovulation, and > 5*ng/ml after ovulation." Which is about 6.3 nmol/ml before. And 16 nmol/l after O. Plus if you look at the chart in the same section, which is actually in nmol/l, it says the same thing.

Maybe you should just tame them again next cycle nut when you know it's day 21.

Your progesterone test should be taken at 7dpo. If it's any earlier the results will be off. Even if your 7dpo progesterone test shows that you didn't ovulate it is still possible that you ovulated. I had a 7dpo progesterone test that showed I did not ovulate, BUT ultrasounds showed that I did ovulate. My chart always gives me crosshairs, and I always get positive opk's. If I went by a progesterone test only I would think that I didn't ovulate when I really did.
