I'm 9 weeks today from last weeks scan. I've started seeing my doctor on the 6th and the did a dating scan and blood work. I got a call the next day that my progesteron is really low at 9 so they wanted to suppliment it with injections.

Now my husband gives me two shots of 200mg of progesteron every Monday Wednesday and Friday! Has any one else gone through this before??? I'm handling it pretty good but the needles are so very long. I end up with bruises on my upper tooshie and it gets knots in it! They said that would be normal. Plus now for the next two months every monday I go in for an u/s and bloodwork! I don't feel to worrie about it everything seems good but I've never heard or experienced this with my other children!

Sorry for its length!!! I just needed to share what I'm going through! Maybe some one else can relate!

I had progesterone shots with my last pregnancy, they made me itch some kind of bad. I started mine much later in pregnancy to keep me from having contractions. Also I only had to get an injection once a week. Sucks but so worth it in the end. Best Wishes

I have been doing progesterone injections since June of last year :) Trust me you get used to them and they are quite helpful!

Some tips and you have probably already been told or seen most of these on the board is..

If you keep the progesterone in the fridge let it get to room temp before injecting.

use a heat pack on the injection site before and after since its an oil it will distribute better with heat.

Alternate cheeks and spots to give the area time to heal.

It also helps to massage the area right after injecting to spread the oils.

I should add that some people on the forums say to ice the area first.. but actually what this does is make the actual puncture not hurt but if your muscle is cold when injected the oils will stay in a lump.. these cause discomfort.

The nurses told me most if those from the beginning and they make good sense to me. I need to find my heating pad. I bet sitting in tht for a while would help a bit. How come you've been on the injections for such a long time??? I'm gettin used to it more so now but after a while they have began to itch!! Drives me insane.

I was initially on progesterone because of IVF therapy. I was to stop the injections after week 12 of my pregnancy which I did.. at week 15 of pregnancy they found I had an incompetent cervix and was in preterm labor. I underwent a cerclage procedure to sew my cervix shut and at the time they decided that I needed to be back on progesterone. So I did have a 4 week rest from them.

The research on the effect of progesterone rehardening and or lengthening the cervix once it is shortened and softened is little to none but we did it as a 'well it cant hurt' type thing. I have now made it to 31W so I am an advocate of progesterone injections for sure.
