My HCG level went from 1070 to 12,900 in 5 days which is great but my progesterone went from 20 to 14.5. The specialist has me on endometin 100 mg progesterone suppositories 2 times a day. Anyone else take this? How long do you wait between doses? 8 hrs? Just confused. Anyone have side effects? Thank you!!!

A couple of things...

Suppositories do not contribute to your blood progesterone levels. They are absorbed directly by the uterus and do not enter the bloodstream. So your actual progesterone should be higher than tests indicate.

Progesterone is produced by your corpus luteum/ovaries in a pulsatile manner. Meaning, it is released in bursts, not a constant stream throughout the day. There can therefore be a lot of variation based on when the blood was drawn etc.

If you remain above 10 you should feel good about it, it's really when you dip into single digits that's the issue.

Thank you, yes, I understand that but after 5 miscarriages being on suppositories won't hurt and I rather be safe then sorry. Yes, its reassuring they're not in the single digits but being pregnant after loss makes me paranoid and it's normal. I'm sure you understand. They think that my corpus leuteum cyst is shrinking, which what happened in my last pregnancy and one ultrasound in last pregnancy showed it was gone by 5 1/2 weeks, and then I miscarried.

I've also heard that progesterone levels change after eating etc which is why they want the levels done first thing in the morning.

My levels were taking both time around 730 am without food. I read that somewhere, too.

Yeah I understand for sure...if you are very concerned about it you could also just ask them to put you on PIO injections, that way you can more accurately monitor the spike in blood. The disadvantage is that you won't have any way of knowing how much your body is producing vs how much is the injections.

Thanks! Tomorrow I have an ultrasound at my RE's office. I should be 6 weeks 3 days. I will talk to her more about it tomorrow. They put me on them to be safe but other then that and some spotting my HCG has been doubling nicely so hoping tomorrow all goes well. Thank you for suggestion.
