Hi, I belong in the TTC section, but couldn't get an answer to my question so it was suggested I post here. Hope that is okay :)

Anyhow, my question:
Can anyone tell me what form of progesterone is most often prescribed after CD21 tests? I.e. is it an injection, tablet, cream etc?

I had a CD21 test this month and my dr was going to give me progesterone the next day, but I was really sick around Ov time and test indicated I didn't ov then, so it was a little pointless having progest then, so now I am thinking ahead to when I go back next CD21 - except I'll leave to go overseas that night - so will have time for the test, but not to got back next day... Can I get my progesterone 'to go'?

(I have a 7-9 day leutal phase, + endo, irregular cycles etc. hence the tests)

Hey hun

Sorry i can't help you but didn't want you to not have any responses!!

I have heard of people getting pesaries and also of having cream so i think it depends. Maybe contact your GP and ask for a phone consults?

Good luck! x

Thanks! I thought it might be an easy question, but apparently not! Thanks again :)

I was prescribed Prometrium which is round-looking pills that you take orally, twice a day, until I am three months pregnant...which, I am not pregnant, but that is the goal! Hope that helps!

don't know hun but im hoping to be prescribed some soon!

The names of meds might differ country to country, but here in Oz, the main types of progesterone support are:

Vaginal pessaries (very messy and sticky where your finger is your applicator!)
Crinone cream/gel - a tube that is inserted then squeezed in your vagina
Provera - progesterone tablets (can be used to bring on AF but high dose acts as prog support).

I've only used the crinone for prog support, but will be using yucky pessaries for FET.

Thanks everyone :) Good to hear there are options

A question in the same area - since you are all so knowledgeable :) CD21 tests. I had one last month, but I have a 25-28 day cycle and Ov around 19-20, so should this really be done later? Say, mid way, CD24? I did ask my dr about this, but she said they still wanted to know where I was at CD21. I read mixed reports/experiences on this, but my logic is - doesn't the progesterone only start to accumulate after ov? Thanks :)

If i were you (and i have a short LP to, so had the same problem) take the test on about CD25. XXX

I have a 25 day cycle and i think I went in on CD21, but the best method for determining your prgesterone levels is a endometrial biopsy, which is done in the office.

Can the GP do this or does it have to be the fertility specialist etc?
