I am 5/6 wks pregnant and wonder if anyone could answer my question - I had PROM with my dd and she was born at 35 + 5/6. Does anyone know if I will get extra care / scans this time round?

I have asked in prem & nicu section but no ones replied.

Yes you should, although I'm not sure what (would probably depend on your health system where you live).

Thanks, thought I would ask because I haven't been to booking in appointment yet so was unsure of how it all worked.

I am in West Midlands (UK).

I think you would, I'm fairly sure its standard UK practice once you have your booking in appointment.

I had lots of extra appointments with my first (UK London) because I had chronic high blood pressure and was high risk PET. I think you would also be seen as high risk because of your previous PPROM and you would also get extra appointments. I also was consultant led rather than midwife led my last pregnancy.

We shall see with this one; currently in Dubai and the whole experience is different!! Though we might be moving home in the middle, gah, lets not do things by half!

Thank you, I am glad actually because along with all the other normal pregnancy worries having another early baby is another one.

Hey Hun, my dd was born at 32+2 and spent a week in the NICU. I'm now on my 4th bubs and I'm still consultant led due to her being early 13 years ago.

When you go through your previous pregnancies with the m/w at your booking in appoint you will be able to go through it all with her and she will answer any q's you have.

Congrats on your pregnancy.x

Thanks Narla83.

What does consultant led entail?

Premature rupture of membranes...

You should do! Im under consultant care! Theres a premature baby unit at dudley hospital city road. I went there the other week ive had 3 scans so far and im 10 weeks! Ill be having another scam at 12 weeks and another at 15, city road hospital do a self referal scans for previous miscarriages and complications

Consultant led means that you see a consultant who is specialised in pregnancy with potential problems.

My consultant was a cardiac pregnancy specialist and anyone with previous pet, chronic high blood pressure, heart problems, were all seen by him. If you have a multiple prgnancy you see someone who specialises with this etc etc
