Have any of you had protein in your urine at this stage? I had mine checked on 8/4 which was at like 7 or 8 weeks... this was the 24 hour urine test. The scale of the test was like 25-226 and mine was 351.

I'm pretty sure I do not have a UTI - I have had plenty of UTIs in my life and I know I would not be able to go weeks without knowing I had one.

All my other bloodwork is totally normal and at my OB's office today she didn't seem very concerned about it. She said we have a baseline now and I guess they will test it again later on to see if it goes up.

I have had high blood pressure for many many years already and probably went a long time without proper treatment for it. My BP now is usually 101/68 ...everytime I go to the Dr's office it always goes up even if its for a happy visit. I hate going to the doctors no matter what it is, so I have always had bad white coat syndrome. I took my home BP measuring cuff with me to the appointment to make sure it was accurate and it was. I took it in the car on the way over and I was 104/64 and as soon as I took in the waiting room it was 143/96. Its now back to its normal range. :)

Are there cases of people that just happen to have protein in their urine without it being your kidneys are going kaput? I don't have any other symptoms of kidney issues and my creatinine and BUN levels were always normal.

Anyhoo, just wondering if anybody else had protein early on and everything turned out ok? I hope it doesn't automatically mean I'm going to get pre-eclampsia early.

Yes I always have it and everything is fine. Dr thinks it's protein from cm more than urine (bleh!!)

I have and been told its likely from dehydration:hugs:

I will be having my protein levels checked throughout as I have hbp. I also did the 24 hour test before getting pregnant so we had a base level and my creaotine levels were high (i.e. my kidneys were flushing out too much of the good stuff I think) I am fairly sure that I will just have more observations throughout, more bloods, more urine tests (and therefore more insurance cost......totally different experience here than in the UK!)

I am with a high risk OBGYN who specialises in pregnancies with chronic conditions, though he says I'm one of his lower risk patients because my BP is controlled and controlled with a relatively low dose of meds, in fact my meds are now half what they were when I was pg with my LO. The chances are you will be observed more I'd guess and they will worry now only when your protein levels go above your current base line.

I made it last time without PET and I am determined to do the same again this time, I got to 39+6 and then my BP started to creep with no protein so induced I was. I'm prepared for induction this time at least!

I'm not much help am I??

Thanks for the replies... :)

I suppose it could be possible for me to have a simple infection... but I just find it hard to believe I'd have a UTI or something for weeks and not know I had it. I did get a urine culture yesterday - so, I guess I should know soon if there is anything wrong in that area.

I really can't see how I would be dehydrated - all my electrolyte numbers were normal on my last blood work results. I am not dizzy no lightheadedness or anything like that. I drink plenty of fluids all day long...

I guess we'll just have to wait and see... I appreciate the responses though. Everything is helpful.

I had this throughout my first pregnancy, and now the same with this one.Ive been told you cant get pre eclampsia that early, and like you had no signs of a UTI.They gave me a kidney and bladder scan last time and everything was fine, just continued protein and blood throughout the pregnancy.I was induced at 39+6 as my blood pressure started to creep up.
This time i have had a trace or more of protein since my booking appointment and am awaiting a kidney scan (again) last urine check showed 3+ protein and 4+ blood! my BP is fine,so not pre eclampsia, but they seem to have no other explanation for me,its so frustrating.
I hope you get some answers, best of luck
:dust:

Thanks Dogtanian, I did talk to the nurse today. I had my OB panel bloodwork done the other day along with a urine culture. Everything again was totally normal and everything in proper ranges etc. I asked her about the protein in my urine and she said based on all the tests we've done it would seem my kidneys are fine and I have no infections and my creatinine levels are normal too ...so the level I got could just be "how I am". My blood pressure does fluctuate a lot and it could just be from that. But she said its a baseline and if my BP starts to rise later on they can do the test again and then compare the results. Mine was a 351 so I'm assuming that's similar to the +3 you mentioned. The scale was 25-224 I believe, so it wasn't terribly above normal. I don't believe I have any blood in my urine...that was never mentioned.

I just hate when you go through all these tests and then there is just 1 little thing that is too high or too low and it just bugs you cause they can't figure out why or where it's from. I hope you get some answers too and your pregnancy goes well! But yea, it is very frustrating.
