How much are you ladies getting out of each breast when you pump? I find I get 2 oz per breast.

My breasts are totally different - i only get 2oz from one but up to 6oz at a time from the other. This is several times a day too!

My milk supply has gone to shit. I can only do 2 oz at a time from both boobs. Very depressing. And Mia drinks 5 oz at once.

Pumping is a last resort. A lot of women can't pump to sustain their supply... a lot of women (including myself) have a huge production but can't pump to save their soul.

The amount you pump is not necessarily the amount baby is getting at every feed! You are MUCH better off ditching the pump for now, and assessing your baby's temperament and # of diapers per day. If baby is sleeping good, is satisfied, and is making 8-12 diapers a day, you're good to go!

Also there's a growth sprurt every couple of weeks through 12 weeks so about the time that things settle nicely, you'll get 3 or 4 days where baby doesn't act like they're getting enough. THIS IS NORMAL, and necessary so baby can get your body signaled to make more food :).

So to answer your question, when I pump I get 0-1 ounce from BOTH BREASTS, though when I merely captured the leaking milk from the opposite breast when I actually fed DD#1, it was often about 3 ounces.

Hope I start getting out more because I go back to work when Connor is 11 weeks so I am pumping to store. I know I need to get a bigger size phalanges which I hear makes a load of difference in the amount you get out when you have the perfect size.

When your lil one gets older you will get far more via pumping. When I first started, and my lil one was only 1 month, I got 2 oz but as she got older, i.e. now at 3 months I can get 4-5 ounces. So do not worry ladies. The amount you are able to pump is relative to your baby's age and appetite and can't really be compared.
