Hey, had a few friends over last night and we were talking about names which together with the surname would make a pun and had a good laugh about it.

Think of that poor child Drew Peacock from a few years back

Our surname is Coyne and the cleverest name we came up with was Phillipa.

Phillipa Coyne... Flip a Coin

:)

Anybody else have any suggestions (just for fun, I wouldn't burden a poor child) or have any punny names of their own?

I know a girl named Janita Boot - but they pronounce it "JA-nee-ta" instead of "WON-ee-ta" so it sounds like "Do ya need a boot?" if you say it as a query.

It's really stupid! She LOVES it, and when she ran for our high school Student's Board, her posters were all over the school, written "Janita Boot? to vote for me for Secretary" or whatever on them! LAME!!

At least she embraced it, though, instead of getting bugged for it. I still think it's dumb to pronounce the name like that!

my aunts name is Norma Lee- she said everytime she fell asleep in class and the teacher said normaly she jumped up

When my cousin had her baby boy I wanted her to call him Wayne... her surname is Kerr

 I wish something funny went with Oxlade... but it just doesn't!

Shauns surname is Bates too so if we'd had a boy, and used his surname instead of mine we'd have had Master Bates

This isnt our last name, but I went to school with a boy named Justin Case and if said quickly it could be "just in case..."

There was a Joseph King that ran for Students' Union President when I was in Uni. All his posters were "You must think I'm Joe King, and you'd be right."

Our surname is Berry so we could certainly have a fruity baby if we felt inclined. I like Summer Berry but oh said it sounds like fruit punch.

I was talking to my friend the other day about what she wants to name her baby. She really liked the name Finn for a boy, until someone pointed out that her surname was Webb :D

my brother went to school with a lad called wesley bean not to bad til you consider he shortened it to wes and they didnt pronounce the surnam bean it was bee-an, i used to crack up every time his name was mentioned

my OH can have two last names because he has the one from his birth certificate (his mum & dad weren't married) but he can & does choose to use his dad's last name for most things.
his mum & dad are still together & they got married after OH was born so his brother's and sister's have their dad's surname also.

anyway! it's hough.
said like hoff e.g. david hasslehoff.

if we had a son & called him jack it'd be like
JACK HOFF

i love the name jack as well lol

I went to school with a girl named Andrea Sample, so her initial was A Sample. She got the joke and told us that her parents didn't have the name ready when she was born so the nurse wrote The Baby Sample on her wrist bands and things.

I also had a classmate called Teresa Woods. She pronounced it Treesa Woods (trees are woods).

And a couple I know named their baby Hayley-Ann, sounds very much like Alien if you say it too quickly.
