I had an hsg done a couple hours ago. I was so nervous that it was going to be painful, but I barely felt anything at all! There was very slight cramping, but way less than menstrual cramps or even a pap. My tubes were open, there weren't any blockages visible either. The dr did say he saw a little scar tissue at the end of my right tube, but also said that this shouldn't be a problem in getting pregnant. Has anyone else had this before and successfully been pregnant? I know he said not to worry, but of course that's all I can think about now!

i had my HSG done yesterday, and it was a lot more painful for me, but since it only lasted 20 seconds it was ok, sorry i dont have the same results, but didnt want to read and run, im sure if he said dont worry they really mean it, if it was going to cause any problems im sure they wouldnt say not to worry :hugs: good luck TTC :dust:

what is a HSG or what does it stand for? is it something that is only done in the US or is it available in the UK too? thanks x

HSG stands for hysterosalpingogram, they flow a dye through your tubes and take a x-ray, it shows if you have any blockages. im sure they would do it in the UK aswell, they usually do it if your having troubles becoming pregnant. i got one because i was diagnosed with PCOS and havent been getting a period.

I agree. I think sometimes doctors say things out loud, almost to themselves, because they know they are nothing to worry about, but of course we obsess over them. :dohh: I'm sure everything is fine. Good luck!

I had my HSG done last month since pregnancy has not been achieved over 3 years of trying. It was incredibly painful!!!! I actually felt the doctor apply more pressure of dye 3 times. I had a nasty blockage that was flushed out and now my tubes are clear. Even had nasty gunk that came out a couple days later for 2 days.

This past cycle I got pregnant for the first time, but sadly it ended in a chemical pregnancy. The point is, I was finally able to get pregnant after the HSG was done!! I feel more optimistic about next time :) I hope this helps you! Best of luck!

thanks for the explanation! it sounds like it could be very beneficial. are there any tests that can check the state of your ovaries does anyone know??

good luck Future Mama try not to worry I am sure a small amount of scar tissue will be normal.

sorry i am terrible for asking questions in others threads it reminds me of all the things i'd like to know!!

Don't apologize, we're all here to help each other. I'm not sure what tests are done to check the ovaries. All I can think of is doing an ultrasound but there may be other tests I don't know of.

blood work and transvaginal ultrasounds check ovaries...usually day 3 and day 21 bloodwork accompanied by the ultrasound they check the size of you follicles and see if you ovulate and also the US can show the "ring" of cysts that is common with PCOS.

for OP: there are alot of ladies on here who get preggo with the scar tissue. maybe post around in regular ttc about it? i have seen lots of threads on it, although none i can think of recently. HTH

I had HSG done few months ago, it didn't hurt as much as I had expected it to...

Everything was fine, no tubes were blocked, and I have read that it will help in achieving BFP but unfortunately nothing has happened for me as yet...

I had one done non the 13th, last week. The technician that was in there taking the XRAYS said that two of the people on her floor who were having trouble getting pregnant got BFP's the cycle that they got their HSG done! I am hopeing that I have the same results! Just thought I would share that bit of optimism!
