Can you re-heat milk? Jacob likes to take a bit and then mess about then when he wants the rest he wont take it cause its not hot enough for him..so can i re-heat it at this point?
We are wasting so much milk atm its going to bankrupt me!

I must admit I'm not sure hun! How long after does he usually want it? I don't leave a bottle longer than about half an hour after I've made it up with the powder. If you use cartons, maybe only pour a little in and then add the rest later once he's hungry again, or maybe make up 2 smaller bottles, rather than 1 big one?

If it's within 1 hr, it's ok. My LO does it during his afternoon feed, & some times he poos during his morning feed & refuses to continue feeding before changing. I just put the bottle in a bowl of hot water, then give it back to him.

My HV told me that you shouldn't re-heat milk. That they can still drink it within the hour but without re-heating. I think Vicks idea of giving him 2 smaller amounts might work better? Will your LO only drink it warm?

hi, sometimes my lo stops drinking for a burp and then goes off it for a while, we will re heat the milk as long as its not been cool for longer than 20 mins or so, any more than that and id use another bottle. x

I've been told, and I've read that you shouldnt reheat formula. I personally wouldnt do it and we're in a similar situation to you atm in that Evie wont take her bottles cold. We recently upped the ounces in her bottles (to 7oz) as she was draining 6oz ones but today she's only taken just over 5 oz per bottle and there are alot of times when she'll only take half the bottle (mornings for example) but I'd still never reheat it and she hates her milk at room temp. Once it's cooled down, it's a dud bottle to us cos she'd just refuse to drink it anyways!

i waste a fortune too sometimes he'll drain 7oz and sometimes he'll only take 3! cant win lol

Ive never reheated the same bottle but i have added a couple more oz to the bottle, that warms it up - dont know if i'm supposed to do that or not

After asking this i decided enough was enough and have switched him to powder now..he didnt like it at first but hes admitted defeat now lol..so even if he wastes it at least its not going to cost as much as when he was on cartons! x

Wake them up, burp them, twist the bottle around in their mouth, shake the bottle about in their mouth, anything to try making them take the full thing. I just give Jude it cold if he insists he's still hungry after falling asleep half way through, he doesn't mind :) I've heard you shouldn't re heat them also x

I was given the advice to keep the bottle in hot water - that way it's not being RE heated - it's heat is being maintained.

We do that for Rebecca and it seems to help. Once it's gone cold though - that's it and we don't reheat it.
