Okay, my LO is almost 4 weeks old. He has been taking around 4 oz every 2 - 3 hours. Sometimes he only takes 2 or 3 oz, then screams for more 2 hours later. aby is over feeding.. has anyone been through this??
He is very irritable and bloated. My HV said he is over eating and confusing this tummy pain with hunger pains. He has a lactose overload? All the symptoms leads to this (gassy, smelly constant bowel movements, restlessness, irritable) He has undigested milk in his poo and covered in milk spots due to his over feeding. She has given him coleif but said we need to get him to go atleast 3 and a half hours between 4 oz but ideally would be 4 hours. She has suggested water between feeds if he is screaming for food.

This really really is so hard, he screams constantly for food, we've tried car rides, long pushchair walks, water (which he will drink and drink and drink) and come off and still scream)
Has anyone had this problem and had to do this? Have you any advice on how this could be easier or how long it takes to get to this?
Really finding this hard, I just want to enjoy my baby and I really haven't been able to do this for about 2 weeks now :( xx

Are you sure it's just overfeeding and not something else? I'm sorry, but I think your HV is talking crap. You can't expect a 4 week old to go that long between feeds. Holly was only on 4 hourly feeds once we'd started weaning and she was on 2 meals a day. Your LO's symptoms sound a lot like cow's milk protein intolerance. Holly has this, and she also had silent reflux as a result of it. The constant screaming and wanting food can be a sign of reflux. CMPI is totally unrelated to lactose intolerance, and is fairly common. I would be inclined to see a doctor, rather than the HV, and see what they say. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I know how hard it is. x x

I agree with Sapphire, also milk spots are nothing to do with milk intake but just blocked pores as babies cannot yet sweat properly, and virtually all babies have them-it is something that usually settles down after a few weeks xx

Hopefully the change will help Leah. Aptamil doesn't agree with a lot of babies, no idea why

Could you try comfort milk?
It wasnt until quite recently my LO was able to go four hours between feeds, and at the begining only went two hours. xx

my baby is now on aptimel hungry milk and was over feeding. aparently according to this book i ready hungrier babies arnt necessarily hungry but actually suckier babies as in they like to suck for comfort have u tried a pacifier?? my little boy sucks one for a little while until calm and then i take it away.

he was having 8-9oz a feed every 2.5 to 3 hours and def above the limit for a 3 week old. iv gradually reduced it to 5-60z and aiming for 4oz but he does scream and root sometimes even after 30mins. are u letting u lo have at least half hour after feeds to digest? sometimes they think they are hungry but just havnt registered being full.
