Reasons for difficulty conceiving? What's your story?

Aaw that is so precious. Don't you just love how naive and innocent they are ... SD told me one time that Mommy picked her out and Daddy just took pictures lol. She said she loves her little brother but she really wants a sister, she wanted to know if she could go with us to pick her out. She said she would take the pictures so daddy could help me pick. It is a small world. A baby story is filmed in NY/NJ right?
not sure

Oh well. At any rate, I will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope we both get our BFP's ASAP. This obsession is killing me. My uterus needs to get to work.

Minno- You could always try the soft cups method ... Although im kinda grossed out by the idea of it, lol but then it seems the benefits outweigh the gross factor. I do know that women who have already had a child don't have fertility issues related to age, like someone who is trying for their first child. How long have you been taking the Iron? Are you taking prenatal vitamins? I have heard that they help. Im so sorry that you have had to endure that heartbreak every month, its awful. Im so impatient, I think that im going to give it a couple months and then im going to look into fertility drugs myself ... I think I should be a candidate! Also, I know that over excercising can cause a woman not to ovulate and sometimes to completely miss one or consecutive cycles. I decided that I wanted to lose weight years ago and my cycles completely stopped for almost a year.

Hi Charliesmommy
Mmm - I don't know much about soft cups, will have to investigate. Also, didn't know about the age and fertility issue not being so relevant if you have already had a child - that is really heartening, thanks so much. I hate going through this every month, the disappointment is just too much to bear at times. I hope you get your BFP very very soon! Being patient is over-rated lol - we're all rubbish at it!!! xx

Woops - also meant to say I've been taking the iron for 3 months and been on prenatal vits for the duration of trying - so 17 months. I must be the healthiest person around :) !!!

Well we have been trying for 2 and a half years now, for my 2nd and o/h's 1st (i have a 10 yr old son). We started actively trying in Dec 07 and by July 09 we had had enough of trying and no results. So went to the docs had all the routine bloods done, sperm tests etc.. all came back fine . Then got referred to Fertility clinic in Aug 09 where they put me forward for a lap and dye. Had that done Oct 09, they found both tubes were blocked and possible hydrosalphinx (fluid in tubes). Was told most likely outcome would be tube removal and ivf. So kind of got our heads round that as much as you can, we then saw my consultant for post op review in Jan 2010 where he said he would like to take a closer look at the tubes and see if they could be repaired and if not then they would be removed there and then. Had my tubal surgery on 18th March where my consultant managed to remove scar tissue from my tubes and a dye test showed dye flowing freely through both tubes. We have been told to keep trying for now, have to go for a Hsg next month to check if tubes are still open, if they arent my consultant said he will request funding for ivf as we are entitled.

C&J - Thats the good thing about private health care here in the US. Most insurance companies allow you a certain amount of IVF cycles and you just go to the doc and they start you on the hormones. A month later your waiting to see if your pregnant. Well good for those who can pay for insurance, bad for those who can't. And we all know our economy sucks right now. ((HUGS)) for all you've had to go through. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that your tubes are open. Can you still do IVF if they aren't blocked? Are you hoping to do IVF? Would you rather they be blocked?

Minno - Thank you, but turns out this wasn't our month. Hopefully it will be soon for the both of us!

Hi CharliesMommy, im the Uk where in our area we are entitled to 2 rounds of ivf on the National Health Service which is great as we dont have to pay and im extremely grateful for that but it means long waiting times for appointments and referrals etc... For example when i have had my Hsg next month we will probably have a wait of 8-10 weeks to see my consultant again and then if ivf was needed then a further wait of around 4/5 months before an initial consultation where the ivf would take place.
I am of course hoping that my tubes are open and in a good state but at the same time it doesnt make anything any easier knowing that it can take normal couples up to a year of trying which I cant bear thinking about if that was to be the case as we would be looking at a 2012 baby  but what can we do ?? If my tubes arent blocked then Im pretty sure we would not be able to receive funding and free ivf, and there is no way we can afford to pay for it ourselves.

Thats great that they pay for 2 cycles. But I cant believe they have such a long wait time. I have US goverment issued insurance (they paid all $300,000.00 for my sons birth and NICU stay) and I can get an appointment with a specialist within 1-2 weeks. Im so sorry you have to wait so long. I can't even imagine what thats like for you. :hugs: Maybe you will have a surprise baby here soon. Afterall they told me I would never have children and im holding him right now.

I really hope a little miracle happens some day soon, really dont think i could stand another year of all this. So god damn difficult to give up though especially when you want something so much.
