Recalled--- ya think?!?

It reminds me of a dog muzzle!! Poor baby x

whats even more concerning is that it was on sale for two and a half years. did no-body with an ounce of common sense see one in all that time?

Just totally goes to show that just cos it's on sale, doesn't mean its safe!

Oh, I totally use the pacifier clips... they save me from treasure-troves of lost binkies, or constant running to the bathroom to wash them off... but this was a bit much -- lol.

On another note: So I JUST figured out that "drop side cribs" are the cribs with the rail that slides down! :( My crib!! It's not even that old, and now I won't feel right unless I buy a new one. I had no idea they were causing so many deaths... and when I'd see comments about 'drop-side cribs', I thought they were something different... like with a rail that would fold out or something. I'm SO bummed that I need to buy a crib now.

eh? not heard of them being banned. Is it just in the US. Ours is drop side too and i love it :(

eta - googled and it seems like its just a US problem as they have different safety standards.

im sorry, but that wouldn't be going anywhere near my child :nope:

It puts me in mind of a Scold's Bridle!

Oh my, that just has "safety hazard" written all over it! Who would invent such a thing?!

My thought is if it's not in the baby's mouth then they didn't want it there. What the hell are people thinking? And which idiot approved their thought process??

I wouldn't go crazy about getting a new crib if I were you. You've used it before and you know that you've had no issues. Just test and check it when you reassemble it for the new baby.

I had a drop side crib for my daughter, and if I still had the crib I would probally use it again. I just wouldn't go out shopping for a drop side one right now(even though the sale of these cribs are banned, you can still find them). I think over time manufactures began slacking in saftey and design of these cribs. Go if yours is good to go, then think about it and consider using it.

Ok first... O... M... G.... I just googled that "Scold's Bridle". *shudder*

Second-- glad I'm not the only one who saw that and didn't know whether to laugh or vomit. I almost felt guilty for mocking it knowing that idiots actually put these on their babies! (Imagine the first time you took baby out in public with that thing on!)

Third-- Thanks, Zodiac... I'm thinking that's what I'll do. Sorry, but when I first looked at the recall explanations and their 'illustrations' of things that have happened to infants, my panic button went off. https://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10225.html
Again... *shudder*

But... I'm chilling out and realizing I need to first take out my crib and assemble it and test it out, THEN see how I feel. Worst case, if I'm not comfortable still, I can always secure the sides with new hardware that will make the sides stationary (a pain for me when getting baby out... but better than buying a new stationary crib if I can't handle the anxiety)

We DID have a crib break on us when DD1 was in it, and I was pretty distraught over what could have happened to her.... the bottom corner dropped out!! She could have so easily gotten caught in that.... I can't even stand thinking about it. She was perfectly fine, but still....
So we bought her a new toddler bed, she was ready anyways.... then we bought a brand new crib for DS1. That's the one we still have. I always thought, "well the crib we have is barely 5 years old!" but it sounds like the newer ones are the worst offenders!

First I told DH we're getting a new crib... that's it. He had a zip-lipped expression like he was trying not to make fun of me, but didn't argue. Just said, "Ok. I'll go with whatever you decide." so when I told him later, "Ok.... ok.... I've decided to wait until I can put our crib together and test it out before I freak out and buy a new crib..." and he smiled and said, "Oh, honey.... I think that's a GREAT idea...." Still mocking me gently. :haha: Patient man.

I ike that at first glance i thought it said beer on the top haha xx
