Hello,

I was just wondering if any of you ladies who have had sections could give me any advice...

How long does it take to recover enough to go outdoors? I am in a lot of pain and don't foresee this to happen any time soon. But i was wondering when it is actually safe to do so without delaying any healing or putting any strain on the muscles that were stitched?

So when did you brave you first outing and what did you do?

Also,

I am so afraid of ripping open my wound, is it likely to happen from just trying to get up out of bed and stuff like that? Obviously, it hurts a lot, but i don't really know the threshold for when i should stop trying to get up because i might damage myself.

Sorry for stupid questions!

xx

After my first C-section which was an emergency C, it took me about 3 weeks to go out. I was still sore but nothing like it was in prior weeks. It was my first outting and I needed to get out as I was going stir crazy. I went and bought pink clothes for my newborn as I was tentative in buying them beforehand.

With my second, which was planned, I was on my own at the time with my newborn and 18 month old daughter. I had no choice but to go out within about a week. The pain eased faster than the first time around.

However, they advise that you should not do any heavy lifting, exerting, etc. for 6 weeks.

BTW, not stupid questions at all! :hugs:

obivously dont have an answer personally but i know my cousin took a good 2-3 weeks to feel better.

:hugs: hun xx

I also had an emergency c-section, was in the hospital for 3 days and the day after I returned home we went for a slow little walk with Jack. It was painful to get up from the sofa, bed etc... But was not painful to walk as long as I took my time etc. Excercise is good as if I sat for too long my legs would just stiffen up! I could get up and move around easily after a week or two :)

i was in hospital for 3 days and went out on day 4 and then also went out again on day 5 to take him into work to show him to everyone i couldnt resist lol but i was a bit sore walking around but i just took it easy i was sore getting up and down from sitting for about 2 weeks and on the 3rd week started to hardly feel sore by week 4 i can go out shopping comfortably now for a few hours without being sore at all , oh and the last week i feel as though the light housework im doing is easier as before i would be sore from just walking around doing light cleaning, just make sure you dont lift anything i heavy and i still havnt hooverd or mopped floors ect as i think these would put alot of strain on it but i have been doing light housework but you do need to be carefull expecially to begin with xxx

I was in the hospital for 4 nights after my c-section. The day we came home, I went out! DH stayed with Erica for 20 mins while I ran to Babies R Us to buy a breastpump and a can of formula. (Only intended on BF'ing before having LO, and had to supplement with formula). Honestly tho, take it as you feel. I have always refused to rest and be taken care of. I ended up in my doctors office 9 days after Erica was born with 101F temp. I did the exact same thing when I was 16 and had my tonsils out. Was in the ER 2 days later. I should learn my lesson LOL.

If you start feeling up to moving around again, try inside first maybe. It hurts to walk at first huh? Take it easy, and try to have someone to help you with LO all the time at first. My mom, MIL, and GIL (grandmother in law) stayed with me for the first 2 1/2 weeks. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

i used to think my stitches were going to rip when i got out of bed but they never would take it easy they say atleast a full calendar month i wen out after about a week with mine when i had my c section but to be honest 5 months down the line i dont feel imm fully recovered from it yet

It took me 3months to recover. O sorry i didn't have anormal c-section thou i was ripped open from side to side.:rofl:
No but seriously took me 3months as i had 39 staples in my belly as i was cut from hip to hip due to my complications. It so helps if DH can help you in and out of bed and hectic up and down positions, as at 5 months my cut tore open 1.96inces it was ouchy and you cant get it sown up after it has opened. I am now officially a year down the road and my cut is still very sensitive.

Good luck, i was lucky to have a MIL that cleaned my cut morning and night as for not getting infection.

*trick i learned in hospital if your cut still has clips or stiches in to keep them dry place a pad on the cut works like a bomb just don't lift your shirt*:rofl:

i think i'll leave it till next week to brave going out. My wound is longer than the incision they normally make as Caitlyn had already entered the birth canal. They had to pull her back over. I don't have stitches on the outside as they glued me back together. It doesn't feel too bad today but if i have a full bladder it is absolute agony to walk!

Thanks for the advice ladies

xx

aww Amy, take your time. I had a vaginal birth and it took me 3 weeks to start walking normally again. Honestly, your pereception of what you are able to do physically, is much different than what your body is actually cabable of.
