Hey i am 23 weeks now, My due date is july 1 and we might have to make a 4.5 hours car ride on july 9 or 10.. is that even a possiblity? will I be in agony the whole time, is it even safe? Whats recovery like for a vaginal birth?

Assuming everything goes smoothly and baby comes on time (or early) it shouldn't be a problem. We did a 5 hour roadtrip when I was 2 weeks PP and no issues at all.

I wouldn't make any promises. I *personally* could have done it at 1 week postpartum but then I went 2 weeks overdue with my 2nd anyways ... shouldn't be a problem as long as you can cancel, but that is just too close after a due date to make solid plans.

I had a forceps delivery with a rather substantial episiotomy and it took me about 2 and a half weeks before I could sit down without being in pain. I would wait and see how you get on before making any solid plans.

I think Ill put it off three weeks... just to be safe, from what im gathering at 3-4 weeks ill probably is a better time for me and the baby.. Thanks for all the input though :)

i wouldnt plan anything i was 13 days overdue with my first 11 days with my second and 3 days with my 3rd, after my third by the next afternoon i was out with him in the sling in the post office getting the Christmas cards sent but after my first i was in hospital a week and it was day 12 pp that I went out for the first time

It definately varies person to person, I would have been fine but I had a very small tear and my recovery was quick with my first birth. x

It varies. I had an episiotomy but I found sitting on a horse-shoe breastfeeding cushion made car journeys manageable in the first week. After a week it was fine. But bear in mind if you go overdue you may have your baby on that date or even later! xx

Car journeys were so uncomfortable for me even 3 weeks PP, but i had episiotomy, forceps and a large baby. I did a 1hr 30 minute journey at 4 weeks PP and that was just about okay (with the help of painkillers) with me sitting on a pillow and DH driving carefully.
