TTC, I don't think the baby karyotyping will be hugely useful in determining your and your OH's genetic makeup. After all, your baby may have developed its own translocation...
TBH, I wouldn't worry too much about your own testing until it actually comes back with an issue. Having a BT is very rare so most of the time this test is there to tick off another possibility off the list.
As for the baby's test, that can be quite useful, especially if it comes back as normal. It gives you proof that whatever treatment you were on is not sufficient and you need something else as well. There's no point repeating the experience.
My fifth pregnancy came back as 'normal'. I had been on progesterone, extra folic acid, heparin and aspirin. A doctor at St Mary's tried to tell me at first that it was still 'bad luck' but couldn't argue with the test result. It gave me the push to switch doctors and see Mr Shehata who could offer me an added ingredient for my next pregnancy (steroids). It worked with my son and now I am heading into second tri for the second time so it seems to be working again.
Unfortunately, your baby may have had a problem with it, such as a trisomy. This is also a useful result in a way. It explains what happened, it really was bad luck and you may have already found the right treatment for you, you just have to give it another try
