Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

This is what I've been on in the past:

1st pregnancy: on nothing full term boy
2nd pregnancy: on nothing mmc discovered at 12 weeks measuring correctly, normal boy
3rd pregnancy: on nothing mmc 15+4 measured correctly, normal boy
4th pregnancy: got prescribed aspirin to take all the time which I started 2 days before bfp, ended in chemical
5th pregnancy: had already started blood pressure medication even though my bp isn't that bad and doesn't look related to the miscarriages, still on aspirin, also start clexane and progesterone from bfp. Mmc discovered at 14 weeks baby measured 13 weeks, normal boy
6th pregnancy: still on bp meds. New fs has me on 10mg steroids all the time, I start clexane, aspirin and progesterone at bfp also have 5 transfusions of intralipids over first tri. Also from bfp I increase steroids to 20mg. I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow and its a boy :)

Congrats on 29 weeks!!! And what a journey. I'm so sorry for your losses but am glad you were finally able to find a good treatment plan!!

Confuzion, how are you?! I had to take a break from here for a little bit while I went through the gauntlet of testing. We finally found out what caused my mc's earlier this year. Natural progesterone deficiency (not just during pregnancy, but all the time) as well as insulin resistance. I'm starting treatment for both but I'm going to call my Dr. today to discuss concerns I have about the aggressive approach planned for my next cycle.

As you know, we've never had a problem getting pregnant and my RE wants to do a full monitored cycle with me being on FSH injections and everything. I think it's a bit much so I'm going to call today and ask if we can just do the Metformin and progesterone for a few months and see how that works and then if not, then we can go forward with the injections and whatnot.

Hey ladies. I know quite a few of you and popped in here a couple times before. But considering the circumstances of my losses, I've never had much to relate/contribute.

Just wanted to say I always read. I'm so sorry for the new ladies here.

Eme - I remember you from the February rainbows group. I left not long after you. Hope you're coping ok :hugs:.

I'm so sorry you left that group too. The second loss didn't hit me as hard as the first one....strangely. I'm so sorry to hear you had yet another one too =(

I can't remember (sorry for forgetting if you've told me) but what testing have you been through? I wrote you separately here, look a few posts up in this thread, they actually found the very likely reason for my mc's

What are the circumstances of your losses? i need reminding :)

xx

Lol I have no trouble reminding. Four losses since July 2013.

- First was a MMC discovered at week 8.

- Second was another MMC discovered at week 10 (baby measuring 9). Had it tested. Turned out to 45X monosomy (Turner's syndrome). Was told it was a fluke and to try again. But they ran the typical blood clotting, APLS, thyroid, diabetes test. All came back normal.

- Third loss was very early. Pregnancy tests darkened then started going back the other way.

- Fourth, my latest, turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy.

Had all the typical tests done a second time. Again, they came back normal. Had our karyotypes tested. My husband has normal male chromosomes 46XY. I, however, have a pericentric inversion on my chromosome 9. Dr. said it was the most common inversion (1-3 % of the population) and him and the genetic counselor we spoke to both agreed it wasn't the cause of my miscarriages.

All of my losses are suspected chromosomal issues. No pattern to them whatsoever.

Progesterone won't help me, blood thinners won't help me, and steroids wouldn't either. Which is why I don't post here much lol. But always rooting for everybody. Especially you Hope with your late loss :hugs:.

disregard my middle response to you LoL (sorry ladies for filling this thread with my multiple replies!) man I'm so sorry for the lack of answers.....but to be honest with you (and I know the grass is always greener) but getting an answer honestly made it all feel a little worse. I know everyone's different...but I really thought finding out the problem would lift the weight.........it didn't.

The weight is there regardless =/

I can only hope it's bad luck petitpas but I've got a nagging worry that there is just something defective about me that will always cause a chromosomal issue or another. Maybe egg quality? I don't know. Had my AMH tested and it was 5.51, perfectly normal for my age. But I know that doesn't really tell you much about quality either. Just quantity.

Yes, we're on a mandatory 6 month wait due to the partial molar pregnancy. We'll only end up waiting about 5 months since, through my research, I've found the most up-to-date recommendation to be 3 weeks of negative hcg tests followed by 3 monthly negative tests. So far, I've had all three weeklies come out negative, and my first monthly is also negative so 2 more to go to hopefully get the green light.

I also have this nagging feeling! I seem to have no problem getting pregnant it's just keeping it. They won't do genetic testing for baby, they say even if it's positive it's a fluke. They test the parents and mine has all come back normal. I hate having to wait! I also need to wait to try again until after the holidays due to appt to check uterine cavity. I was suppose to have it last week but fell pregnant again in August only to mc again last week.

I'm sorry for your losses....I've been through similar. 3 mc's and 1 chemical. We don't have a problem getting pregnant, it's just getting past the dreaded 6-8 week mark for us. I was finally diagnosed with a progesterone deficiency (not pregnancy related) as well as insulin resistance and while they can't say 100% that was why....they're pretty confident that it was. I'm currently on Metformin for a month until my next cycle where they want to pump me full of meds......which might have to wait for January based on my work schedule. But I had the uterine cavity check via a scope, it wasn't bad since I was knocked out for it! I hope you get some answers, it doesn't always make you feel better about the losses (in my case it reopened the wounds, finding the answer) but it gives you a clearer path to the road ahead.

Milty, it sounds like you have your endo well under control!
It's been a while since I read the book and it wasn't my favourite scientifically speaking tbh, but I seem to remember that Dr Beer thought endo made it more likely for a woman to have immune (NKcell) issues during pregnancy. Have you looked into that, too?

I am reading everything but don't have much to add as the girls are fab at replying, so I will send love and hugs to you all.

My AF should of come on Saturday or Sunday, it hasn't yet, I've not tested yet as I've been massively convinced that I'm out this cycle, not sure what to think. If AF hasn't arrived by tomorrow (I think it will tonight) then I will buy a test.

Do you have to start anything hash from bfp or are you already on what you need to be on? That was always my excuse for testing early lol don't know how you have will power to test late, although hopefully you'll get a lovely strong line now xx

Just my blood thinners. I usually do test early but I'm trying hard not to get caught
up in it all as I was spending £100 a month on preg tests. :dohh:

However I just did an ovulation test and the test line is waaaaay stronger than the control line. Any experiences on that, anyone? Looks like I am buying a test in the morning.

Tasha I have everything crossed you see a beautiful pink line Tomoz

Make sure you message me on fb if you do xx

Its hard isn't it. I buy lots of ic and then tried to limit myself to one packet of 3 free per cycle. Don't have any experience really with the ovulation tests, fingers crossed its a good sign though!! X

Thanks Ginny. Hope linked me to a web page that explains that hcg and Lh are from the same group of things and so ovulation tests can't detect between the two.

My friend told me it's how she found out she was preg.

I use LH strips to test out my hcg and at first the test line is much darker than the control line.

Thank you Milty.

I'm really anxious this morning. I don't even want to go to the toilet incase AF has arrived. I think I prefer my bubble of denial!

Oh I'm so anxious for you x going to be stalking until you test!!

sorry hope I'm not adding pressure! just a wee bit excited!

Hahaha, you're not. AF hadn't arrived, so now I'm 2/3 days late. I'm on my way to Tesco but will be doing my shop whilst I'm there x

Thank you ab.

I got two positives. Will add photos when I'm on the laptop as I can't spoiler them from my phone.
