Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Ok, I must have forgot what blood tests do I need on hydroxycloroquine ?

My gp prescribed no problem x

Lamb glad you found the answer lol
Dairy glad the lines are getting lighter. $35 for every lab? My insurance is through my job. Well dh and I work for the same umbrella company they are like the biggest name in health care here. He works in the er I work in home health. As long as we use their lab Any test is free. Let's been helpful with rmc testing.
Eab how's everything going?

afm my Hcg level came back at 290 at 14dpiui. That's a little higher than I usually get. Will retest monday.my progesterone level said >200 hoping it's not excessive. I take 200mg of progesterone twice daily. so I guess it's save to say I'm officially pregnant.

Hi lambs

Was only talking about you a few days ago when i met with Padbrat.

Mr S prescribed hydroxycloroquine for me and I'm sure he told me to stop at 34w

Could be because I had an abruption though x

Hope why did they prescribe hydroxycloroquine?

Our consultant prescribes it because it dampens your immune system that little bit more than the steroids , it's an anti malaria drug

It's a new thing he is trying, Tasha takes them too and is now at the half way mark with her pregnancy

Xx

I don't think they will for me yet because I haven't taken steroids before. I'm afraid I admit that this protocol won't work either

I tried lots of different protocols before getting it right with Isaac

X

My rms gave me 2 choices he said we don't know why this I'd happening and we can do 2 things.
1. Iui with steroids and everything else I'm taking
2. Ivf (which doesn't make sense to me but oh well)

Lambs, 34 weeks here too but again I've had two late loses so it might be different.

Florida they usually try steroids first, because the hydro is such a strong drug. We need eye tests every three months on it and blood tests too. The steroids didn't work for me but the hydroxycloroquine and steroids together as well as very high dose blood thinners seems to be (fingers crossed).

Steph, the hugest of hugs. Is your doctor a specialist?

Thanks all for the replies, I'm starting to have a glimmer of hope that maybe we'll be able to complete out family with all your success stories.

Yes my dr is a specialist but I don't think she was taking me very seriously and thought it was just bad luck after the 2nd in a row. Now with the 3rd in a row I hope she will be more aggressive with the treatment. I have a few questions...

1) For those who took aspirin, did you take it when ttc or from bfp? I read it can help with implantation but then I read that it can impair it. I'm confused!

2) And those on progesterone, did you have a progesterone deficiency or was it used just as a precaution? I think my progesterone is fine, a couple of days ago at 4 w it was 43, and I think they like it over 30? My hcg was crap at a measly 18 :(

3) Also what is the consensus for trying straight after a mc? I conceived dd1 2 weeks after a mc so thought I would try the same this time. Well now I'm about to have my 3rd loss with no period in between them! I really want to keep trying, the only thing that will heal me at this stage is a successful pregnancy so i don't want to wait but then again I don't want to keep having mcs every month!

I'm so happy I found this thread, I was feeling pretty alone and lost.

Yes she probably did just treat it as bad luck then, as that's what statistics say it is. It sucks because it doesn't make it any easier for you.

Aspirin I was on 75mg whilst ttc and am on 150mg now I'm pregnant. However I have a clotting disorder. Progesterone, mine was never tested but I'm on it as it can't do any harm, 400mg twice a day until 34 weeks.

Usually I say it's fine to ttc straight after, but where you've had three consecutively then I would say have a period first then ttc after that. It will be good for your body to have a break, if it's a lining issue it may help with that x

Hi steph

I have to take aspirin 3 months prior to conceiving. I also take progesterone as soon as I get a bfp, I've never had my progesterone tested

Regarding ttc, if you want your specialist to run tests on you then I would suggest you don't ttc till you've had the tests and got the results incase you need a treatment plan

If you get pregnant before any testing you may well mc again

Xx

Thanks Tasha! So maybe armed with my internet-acquired info I can ask the dr to put me on progesterone, lovenox, and predisolone when I get pregnant and start taking aspirin when ttc. Just throw everything I can at it and hope it helps!

I know i should probably take a month off, surely all the hormonal changes can't be good for my body. I think the lining was ok though, had an mri of the pelvis at 6dpo this cycle and it was 14mm, which I think is good? I just hate all this waiting, I had imagined having 3 little kids close in age growing up together, and now the age gap is getting bigger and bigger. And the the worst part is not knowing how big it will get. I know age gaps aren't really that big of a deal, and if my girls are older they will probably enjoy having a little baby sibling even more, but at the moment when I see a family with 3 kids close in age I get really sad :(

Steph my specialist said to start 81mg aspirin from cd1 and I am still taking it as well as 40mg of lovenox that's an injectable though. As far as progesterone mine has always been normal or better but I am on 200mg twice a day. My progesterone levels were just tested and came back >200 so I'll have to wait for spec. Call. I am not stopping it though as it won't really hurt. Only prolongs your body recognizing mc. My body still knew with a week the last 2 times. There is research showing after 2 mc wasting needs to be started but everyone seems to still side with 3 is a pattern. I also wof wait at least 1 cycle if not a few more. Your lining and your heart needs it. But u have tried straight away many times. Either way I wish you luck. Xx
Tash wow I didn't know that. I'm praying hard this works for ud. I really wish he'd up my steroids to 20mg daily but he's the dr. Xx I'm so happy it's working Tasha. I told my us and about your journey just a lute(hope you dontr mind) he doesn't know anyone who's been through this. He almost cried and also said you are strong. He's very scared but you ladies I've us hope and strength xx

Hope I've had a lot of tests so far, had a bunch of bloods, including genetics, and an mri and ultrasound of the pelvis. The only other one she mentioned was endometrial biopsy to test for NK cells and sperm dna fragmentation test because my dh was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 18 months ago so he is at higher risk. Is there anything else?

Also Stephen you need your levels at 0 fora lot if test to be accurate. If it's something easily corrected it be better to have testing. Although my test all come back normal I feel better knowing in armed with ax much undo as possible

Steph Tasha and I take steroids from ovulation, we stop if we get a bfn or carry on if bfp

I tried steroids from bfp and still mc so getting them in my system earlier made a difference with Isaac pregnancy (lost him at 27w) and then this current pregnancy I took from ovulation too and we have seen a hb despite me spotting

Xx

I had my nk cells tested via blood, so the steroids are for them and my thyroid antibodies. Because of the abruption with Isaac I now take the hydroxycloroquine

It's a minefield out there xx

steph - welcome, you are in the right place for support and advice.

eabwhab - hope everything goes well with the immunologist. I'm doing my usual panic that things aren't working out (I always have mmc's), trying to relax.

Really interesting to read about everyone's protocols.

It really is, I'm learning so much though and it's helping me feel a lot better about the future. I'll ask the dr if she can do the Nk cells through blood too, she said she would basically put a needle up my hoo haa into my uterus and take out a chunk

Ok so aspirin from cd1, steroids from ovulation. I'm going to have to write all this down. I can see the dr mentally rolling her eyes when I come at her with all this :haha:

Thanks Florida! I don't know what my levels are at the moment but I'm still getting positives on my hpt and haven't started bleeding yet. Will have hcg tested on Monday, I really hope it doesn't take forever to get going. I always find the waiting for it to start the hardest.

Out of my 6mc, 5 of them were missed mc too . Try not to worry too much hun, xx

Have the tests been done within six weeks of pregnancy Steph? As they shouldn't really. Yep my steroids are from ovulation, also on the hydroxycloroquine because of late loses and the fact that I miscarried again with steroids.
