Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Sorry Cassie. As hope said that's the tests to start with. I hope they find an answer for you.

Hope - I'm trying to pm you but apparently your mailbox is full!

Hello ladies,

do you know what an hysteroscopy is good for? Is it the same as uterine biopsy? My RE refused to do it. She said it is no useful and doctors don't do it anymore. I should add that I had an HSG and my uterine cavity looks fine.

Thanks! Hope everybody is doing well.

It's a camera procedure, I've had it twice , once asleep and to remove a septum and then again 2 months later to check septum not grown back and no scar tissue x

So sorry Cassie, I'm in a similar situation although I only have two kids. Now 3 mcs in a row, within a very short space of time. I'm new to this but I think the first step would be to be referred to a specialist.

I'm feeling so frustrated, still waiting to start bleeding. Hcg went from 18 to 55 in the past 4 days so obviously not viable, I just hope it isn't an ectopic :(

I had a hysteroscopy to remove septum and adhesions. I had a sono prior to confirm that the hysteroscopy should been done and another after to confirm that it looked better. They discovered much more with the hysteroscopy than they did with the sonohysterogram.

Hi ladies, I'm joining in. We had a miscarriage last July at 6 weeks and a MMC that was found December 31st when I was 11 weeks. Baby passed away sometime in week 9. We just had our recurrent pregnancy loss panel and they also checked for PCOS. We have one child, pretty uneventful pregnancy minus hydronephrosis...we conceived her on soy isoflavones so we are giving those another go. I should get my test results back in a week or less.

I wish none of us were here but it is nice to be with people who "get it".

Hello Sweetmere,
sorry to hear about your losses. I have also recently gone through a mmc (from ivf pregnancy). It took a long time for my body to recognize the pregnancy was not viable. Did they wait for your HCG to go back to zero before testing you for rmc?

Before, my biggest fear was that testing was going to come back all normal....
A couple of days ago we had a follow-up very short phone conversation with the reproductive immunologist who did my blood work. He is out of State so everything was done via phone and mail.
He is suggesting I take aspirin, heparin, levonox, prendisone, and IVIG!!!!
The phone conversation was so quick that I could not follow why I need to take all of this next time I do IVF. I hope things will be a bit clearer once i look at the results. I will probably ask for a second follow-up so that I can ask all the questions I have. I was completely unprepared and did not expect such a complex protocol.
I know this is a pretty standard protocol for many of you ladies and I know it helped many to carry the pregnancy to term but I can't help feeling overwhelmed and scared. Is my immune system really so messed up(I am sorry, I don't mean to offend anybody)? Or is it just that the more tests doctors do the more they find something wrong. This doctor seems to be really good but boy... IVIG!?!? :(

Sorry for be such a downer, I am feeling so lost at the moment....

Thank you, I'm sorry about yours too. :(

Yes, we tested last week and my levels were 0 the week after, the week of january 12th. I was quite surprised. It took longer for my 6 week loss to drop but I guess the d&c sped it up.

Yeah probably. I decided to wait it out and it was a bit of a nightmare. I found out my baby passed on Dec. 18 and my HCg was finally down to 16 this past Tue. I have to go one more time. They want to see it les than 10. I hope next week it will be less than 5....

My RE is going to run a bunch of tests then. She does not know I have quite a bit done with an immunologist. Doctors have different opinions. My RE does not believe NK cells play a role in rmc. The immunologist wants to treat me because my NK cells; activity was high, although their number was in the normal range

Anyway, I hope you find out what might have cause your losses. Did you send conception products for genetic testing?

eabwhab - hope you get to speak to your doctor soon. All the testing really takes its toll :(. Sometimes I feel like this experience makes it feel like your body is against you. A lot of ladies do have good results with the combination, it would be the next step for me too. :hugs:

sweetmere - sorry for your losses.

eabwhab- I would have waited mine out a little longer but baby had been gone for at least 2 weeks already, plus my birthday was the 16th and I really didn't want to "go into labor" on my birthday so we just went ahead with it. My ob order the testing...I kind of wish he had but then again we are already paying so much for the ultrasounds, d&c, then a ton for the RPL blood tests.

eab- heparin and lovenox are basically the same thing, you wouldn't take both, are you sure he knows what he's doing?

Hi ladies. Random one but the place I normally go for intralipids haven't answered the phone all day. Anyone know anywhere else in London or Berkshire that would administer intralipids? I have a prescription.

Did I tell you somewhere before... London nursing services or is that who isn't answering the phone

Or healthcare at home hun but they still more expensive x

It's the London nursing place who aren't answering love. Healthcare at home at a lot more pricey so will keep trying. Thanks though. You ok?
