Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

dairy - glad you are feeling a bit better, take it a bit easy with the workout so it continues to heal. A little bit is better than nothing :)

Oh, don't worry about me. I may have good intentions of working out but as I'm finding out, time works against me. (or I'm just too lazy. :haha:) I haven't worked out since Sunday despite all my spouting on about exercising. My shoulder and arm haven't bothered me now today and I have a chiro appt on Monday so they should be fully sorted out by then. I'm almost certain what discomfort I'm having is because my elbow needs adjusting. As for working out, I'm sticking to cardio mostly right now or squats if I'm standing in one place. No weight lifting or kickboxing/punching type stuff until I know my arm can take it.

And I did one last test hoping to see a stark white neg but there was still a shadow line though it's so faint it's hard to say if it's evap or not. I'm calling it bfn because even if it's still pos, there's so little hCG left it's barely showing up anymore. Now just to wait for AF...:coffee:

dairy you are still way more ambitious than I am. I can barely pronounce the word exercise lol. I have a very physically demanding job so I'm in relatively adequate shape but it would absolutely benefit me to have your motivation.
Yay for the almost negative test and hopefully af shows her ugly face for you soon.

Hi all, I kind of popped in briefly last month after 2 mc in a row, but now I'm waiting to mc for the 3rd time in a row (4th in total) so I definitely belong here. Brief history Mc 8w, dd1,dd2, mc 4.5wks, mc 7w, and now 4wks and my hcg ins't rising as it should so I know what that means. The last 3 mc have all been within 3 months.

I've had testing done and the only thing that has come back so far is that I am heterozygous for mthfr A1298C (my dr says this doesn't cause mc?) and I have anti-thyroglobulin antibodies so I was started on low dose thyroxine even though thyroid function is normal. Pelvic MRI showed multiple small follicles in my ovaries and my AMH is high at 40 but my dr says I don't have pcos, as I get pregnant easily and have no symptoms.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Where do I go from here? I just feel completely helpless and completely crushed :(

Also I asked my dr about taking aspirin and she said it hasn't been shown to help, and if anything can harm a pregnancy. Any thoughts? I just want to throw anything I can at this so I feel I'm doing something different.

Hi steph. So sorry your going through this but these ladies are great and all have knowledge about a lot. I'm. It sure what they do for those positive tests. I can say baby aspirin does not hurt a pregnancy as long it's stopped early on at like 2 weeks. Also some people take it longer. Have you seen a recurrent miscarriage specialist? Are they treating you for those 2 positive test

Hi Steph

You will get conflicting reports on the aspirin thing, here in the uk they believe that rmc'ers should not take aspirin if you have no known cause to take it, there was a lot of info on this on the miscarriage association website

I'm not fully clued up on mthfr but I though it can contribute to Rmc , if I was you I would take natural folate anyway

I don't know much about anti thyroglobulin antibodies, I have thyroid peroxidase antibodies and they are treated with prednisolone . I also have elevated Nk cells and the prednisolone is for them too. After 6 losses I carried isaac to 27w ( I believe it was the prednisolone that helped) and I'm currently pregnant again with no8 and we had a hb at my 6.5 w scan

My antibodies increased very quickly at one stage, they went from 400 to 600 in a month , I then decided to elimate gluten out of my diet because research suggested it reduced the antibodies and it worked, I halved them down to 300

After I lost isaac I caved and had a few chineses, my antibodies went back up!

X

Aspirin is one of those should you/shouldn't you things I think. I take it and I firmly believe it's anti-inflammatory properties help me get out of the first tri but I only take it from bfp til 14 weeks (and off/on after that when I remember as my dr says I may have an undiscovered clotting issue though he doesn't think so.) All my tests are normal with the exception of low (but normal) hCG and progesterone levels in the first tri. I've had 9 losses total with 3 rainbows in between all of that. But different doctors will tell you different things about it. My dr has me on it for the blood thinning properties but I feel it's the anti-inflammatory properties that help me more.

I was on aspirin until around 30 weeks or so and was fine (was on a lot of other stuff till 12-14 wks)

20 mg prednisone to 12 weeks (weaned off it)
25 ml I think? lovenox till 12 weeks
50 mg progesterone suppository in the hoo haw till 12 weeks

baby asp till around 30 wks? didn't matter if I took it that long

metanx (metabolized form of folic acid)

neevo dha (prenatal that also has metabolized form of folic acid)

I also bought the One a Day prenatals but just took the dha caplets from it as they come with 2 pills you take, the dha and the prenatal, as I had enough of the other stuff from the neevo prenatal, I actually threw the prenatal pills...

2000 IU vit D

I think that's it. And this is for unexplained early m/c and this protocol (at least the baby asp/lovenox/prednisone) has worked for many girls with unexplained early m/c at the clinic I went to.

I have the lowest form of MTHFR (the one that isn't supposed to cause anything and most people have) so it's from my research that I wanted to take metabolized form of folic acid as that is supposed to be what works when you have mthfr 1928ac I think it was called? probably didn't have to go that far but I was throwing everything at the book at the pregnancy.

I also had IUI and did follistim/repronex/ganirelix that cycle when I got the twins.

I'm on 10 mg steroids until 12 weeks I wanted to ask for an increase but I haven't
40mg/0.4ml of lovenox
Baby aspirin
Vit d 5000
Prenatal with 800mg folic acid
I also take another 3200mg of folic acid for q total of 5000mg
B12 1000mg
Progesterone 200 mg oral twice daily
I'm doing the same giving it all I have as I'm not sure how much more we can take. It sounds similar. My mthfr all came back negative. It kind of makes me feel hopeless since there is nothing to go off of. I'm glad it worked for you. I've only take baby aspirin and progesterone in the past

I had all the rmc testing after four mc in a row and the only thing they found off was my VIT D. I started taking 50,000 IU once a week for two months, then went to 3,000 a day during summer (now I do 5,000 a day during winter), and the next pregnancy was successful. She will be 8 months next week. It is the only thing I changed, so I believe it is the reason I was losing them.

Thank you so much for your reply. It gave me a lot of hope!

Hello ladies,

I have been quite busy and have not posted in a while.

Floridam, I hope this new protocol will work for you. Wishing you al the best. Have you had your blood test done?

Hopeful, after how many losses does your clinic prescribe this protocol even thought rmc are unexplained?

Steph, sorry for your losses. I am not of much help as I am just starting doing testing myself. So far I have found out I have VERY LOW vitamin D. I also talked to a reproductive immunologist which did a bunch of tests but dont know the results yet. I should talk to him next week. The one thing he mentioned during consultation was that some problems with the immune system might come up only when pregnant, so ideally one should get tested before mc. My RE has a completely different opinion. She wants HCG back to zero before doing any testing

Dairy, will you have a blood test to check your hcg. My line a few days ago was almost inexistent. I go next Tue morning for a blood test. If hcg is finally below 10 I can have blood drawn by my RE for rmc testing. Finally....

Blueblue, how are things?

Hello to everybody else! :hugs:

eab-probably not. Because of my insurance, it costs $35 per blood test. Compared to $1 for an hpt, that's alot. And 2-3 weeks for a bfn is normal for me after a loss so I'm not worried. There's been steady lightening so it'd def going down. I'm bleeding again but again, I've had this before and the dr wasn't worried then. If I still have bleeding and/or my tests are still faint by the end of next week, I'll go in but at this point, this is still all normal for me.

Shoot! Forgot to say that I did have a uterine septum but had 2 mc before and 2 mc after it was removed so they didn't think that was the cause. I had all the rmc testing after the second mc and then took 6 months off ttc and then had septum removed then had 2 more mc. So 3 mc within 15 months which includes 6 months off ttc. First mc was years ago n had d and c.

I did the protocol after 4 mc but I took just baby asp after 2nd mc. I asked to take it all from the research Id done but they said that's their protocol for early rmc anyway

So with the protocol I got the twins so I think that stuff all can help a lot

I googled about steroids at the time and came across petitpas post somehow about steroids after my 4th mc and that's how I found bnb and this thread
Thank god as this thread helped save any sanity I had

Morning ladies. I've not been posted in a while but often skulk around in the background.

Is anyone taking hydroxychloriquine? I can't see on any info I've got as to how long you're meant to take it for. Do you stop at 12 weeks? 14 weeks? 35 weeks? I've been taking it for a while and had the various blood tests needed but just don't know what the actual protocol is during pregnancy - d'uh! I am trying to get my gp to prescribe it but he's not keen so far.

Hi lambs

Was only talking about you a few days ago when i met with Padbrat.

Mr S prescribed hydroxycloroquine for me and I'm sure he told me to stop at 34w

Could be because I had an abruption though x
