Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Dear eabwhab I am so sorry to hear about your losses my heart goes out to you. Wish you the very best, and I hope you have your perfect baby soon. I have also had 6 losses of which one was 1 ectopic, so I can understand your pain. I am not knowledgeable on the tests, hopefully others can guide you. You say the ectopics were misdiagnosed, why is that? Are your doctors closely watching you? I thought I'd send positive thoughts your way anyway. Hang in there.

thank you for your words, they made me feel less lonely. Sorry you had to go through so many losses. My first ectopic was completely missed by an incompetent midwife. The second time, I begged for more hcg but I was not listened. Then I bled and thought I miscarried. Before going on vacation I decided to get checked, that is when they found a baby thriving in my tube. God knows what could have happened. I was about to take a long oversea flight. I have changed doctor once again. Have you done any testing given so many losses? Will you? :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Welcome eabwhab, I'm so sorry for your losses and what you have been through. I can't even imagine your pain. I've had 2 losses myself and pregnant for the 3rd time and extremely terrified. I'm only 4 weeks along today, so just barely. I have only made it to 5 1/2 and 6 weeks. The other tests the ladies have suggested sound good. Have you had your progesterone levels checked during a non-pregnant cycle to see if your body is producing it at the correct levels? I know that that can cause issues as well. My thoughts and prayers are being sent your way that you will get your rainbow. :hugs:

I truly wish you all the best. This last time I was taking progesterone since it was an IVF cycle, so for sure that was not the case. My progesterone was checked only once and indeed was on the low side. So I was prescribed clomid, got pregnant but had a cm. With clomid my progesterone was great. I think I either was very unlucky (well I am 39) or there might be something wrong with my uterus. I know I can produce a healthy baby because there was one with hb in my tube at 7 and a half weeks. Best of luck to you. I hope this is a sticky one. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Hi ladies, can I join you all?

My name is Ella and I'm TTC#1. I've been TTC for 3+ years (46 cycles) and in that time I've had 4 losses. I fell pregnant 6 months after coming off birth control, only to lose it at 5w5d. Then there was two long years of nothing. I was referred to the FS at my hospital and he suggested IUI after doing all the testing and coming up as unexplained IF. The IUI was a success, BFP with twins, but I mc'd at 5w6d. I had two more mc's in May and September, both under the 6 week mark.

I moved to the US and started up RMC testing again...my FS has tested me for a bunch of things and everything came back normal except I had elevated NK cells and something in my uterus that could be a fibroid or something else that could be affecting implantation. And I had endometriosis inside of my appendix, but I've had my appendix removed, so that is hopefully the end of that.

So, now I'm waiting to ovulate on the first cycle since my appendix came out that we could try properly. I'm hoping the lack of endo will make a real difference.

I'm pretty sure I have a small fibroid in my uterus and if it's a fibroid, there's nothing to worry about at this point, says my FS. But we'll see. I had an MRI to look at things more closely, so hopefully I'll know soon.

And then there are the elevated NK cells. I had a followup blood test last Monday, but I haven't heard the results yet. Anyone here have experience with high NK cells?

So that's me...lots going on and no idea whatsoever what's causing my losses. But hopefully it'll become clear soon.

Hi DB

Sorry for your losses

There is quite a few of us familiar with nk cells, Me included.

After my 6th loss, I was diagnosed with nk cells, treatment was steroids and I managed to carry my 7th pregnancy to 27w and then had an abruption and lost
Isaac 2 days later in nicu

I did other stuff to but I believe the steroids played a big part in getting me to 27w

Xx

LPF - don't go, we're are here for you :). I'm sorry you are having such a horrible Christmas, it must be so hard. I hope the test results come back soon and are good. Petitpas is right, going through something so hard will make your body very tense and make aches and pains worse. I know this sounds daft but some meditation/breathing exercises might help you a little bit with this, one yoga one I use is alternate nostril breathing. Youtube has a lot of guided meditations, I've tried a few of "the honest guys" ones. Sending hugs x

Mrs R and Squig - congratulations :) x

Confuzion - congratulations - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and all the other ladies. I know how you feel, I feel like a fifth loss would break me too. x

ginny - I think I may be hyperfertile - previously I've got pregnant first month, 3 out of 4 times always resulting in mmc.

sandpmove and eabwhab - welcome and sorry for your losses x

Hi ladies. I have been Mia for a while. Grieving and just trying to get a handle on life. I lost the last baby, my dj got hurt and was out of work for 2 months, I lost my 5 year old nephew and then I lost my aunt on Christmas Day. To say the least it's been a hell of a ride. So that was miscarriage #5. I finally had my first appt with the rmc today. He was very nice. He and his wife also had a child and them lost 5 babies before having their second so it's nice to have someone who understands. He actually said to my DH you'll get to the point where you either won't want to have sex or she'll end up getting your tubes tied if you don't try to figure this out. it was so nice to have a man who understood and could tell my husband so he understood. So he's going to rerun some of the blood test I've arty had done as well as add some more he's also going to treat me and my husband in case we have Uroplaseamea? I already had a hysteroscopy so if the one that he sees is up to par he won't repeat that he has a couple things he'd like to try so I feeling kind of hopeful he's going to go over my labs and hysteroscopy results and give me a call with the second step. When I walked in he said welcome my problem child. He said it was strange to see a healthy 24 yr old who has been successful having children all of a sudden not be able to. He said he also may try a course of steroids and aspirin and see what happens I don't know I guess we'll find out what he call

So nice to hear from you again Florida. So happy you've found a great doctor that is doing something for you!

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining?

My history includes 1 ectopic treated with methotrexate, 3 miscarriages at approx 6 weeks and most recently a mmc at 11 weeks. I stopped ttc after the mmc as it really hit me hard and I was basically too frightened to try again. I have been referred to the RMC and have had bloods and a scan. Got an appointment on 15th Jan. I don't really know what to expect to be honest. I have PCOS and have been reading that there can be a link between recurrent miscarriages and PCOS. I'm wondering if they'll suggest metformin. Has anyone else got PCOS?

I should say that I've already been seen in the RMC - they arranged the bloods and scan.

Welcome Ella & Kirin. I don't have PCOS Kirin, but I hope your appointment is useful.

Good to hear from you Florida - glad to hear you've got a sympathetic doc with ideas for going forward. Good luck!

Good morning ladies,

Welcome DB and KirinM...I'm so sorry for your losses and pray you'll get your rainbows soon enough.

Thank you blueblue. :hugs:

Floridamomma, I'm so sorry for everything you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you that you will remain strong and everything will fall into place for you.

Question for you ladies...I'm with a new doctor this time around and I was told I could go to the lab to have my HCG and progesterone levels checked when I asked about it because my first appointment with her isn't until January 26th and that puts me at the 8 week mark and I've never made it that far before (5 1/2 and 6 weeks). So for peace of mind I wanted them checked. But she only requested them to be checked one time? Is this ok? I guess technically if I'm going to mc it wouldn't matter how many times they are checked, but I just hear all these other ladies being checked twice. Was just curious your take on it?

Want to thank you all on this thread for helping me through out the year and I hope next year is an amazing year for all of us xxx is anybody on this thread have thyroid I've just been to my docs and she didn't know wether to put my thyroid tabs up or not as I'm 6 weeks wasn't very reasurring

Kelly, you need to have your thyroid levels checked with a blood test and that will show whether you need more meds or less. It is really important to be checked regularly. If your doctor doesn't know can you see an endocrinologist soon?

Mrs R, one single hcg test is pretty meaningless. The actual number doesn't tell you much. It is best to have two blood draws 2-3 days apart. That doesn't count for the progesterone, though. One check will probably give you answers already.

Hi petipas I had my bloods done today so will see what they say last time I saw my endocrinologist she told me I shouldn't need to take more but this doc was insistant on giving me an extra 25 mg I'm already on 100 mg haven't taken yet as wasn't sure

[-o<Thanks petitpas, I called my doctor's office to ask about this and they said typically she likes to do one and then see what the results are and if the levels are high then there's no reason to do another one. But if there is question or if the levels are lower than what is to be expected she will do another one. Still don't know my results yet, but they said they should get them today. Fingers crossed all looks well.

You will eventually need to take more, I didn't increase my meds till I hit 20 weeks I think but I had them checked about every 6 weeks x

Kelly-my sister had part of her thyroid removed a few years ago and since then, whenever she's been pregnant the dr has tested it right away and then every 6-8 weeks after to track it. I'm not sure if my sister has had to change her dosage at all though.

I'm currently on 100mcg, and my endocrinologist says it will definitely need to be increased when I get pregnant. He said he wants to monitor me very closely, and wants to check my TSH every three weeks during pregnancy. But I just got diagnosed about a month ago, so we don't even know how I'm responding to the 100mcg yet. Hashimoto's destroyed a pretty good chunk of my thyroid.

Just wanted to wish you all a happy new year. I am fairly new to these forums, and have found comfort in sharing my journey so far with all of you. Thank you for the support.

I do have a request: can you all tell me what supplements, and lifestyle changes you would suggest I make so I can work towards better egg quality?
