Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Question for all of you: does wheatgrass help improve egg quality. I've read that it does, but some seem to suggest it artificially lowers your FSH. What does your research tell you?

I've never looked into wheatgrass so can't help I'm afraid, I think my eggs are ok as I've had many other diagnoses that caused rpl x

I don't know anything about wheat grass but I used dhea to improve egg quality.
ladies im in a pickle when I saw the endocrinologist in march last year she told me that even when I get pregnant I wouldn't have to increase my thyroid dose my levels usually sit at 0.3 I had my bloods done on tues and they had gone up to 0.9 so still well within range, the doctor told me to take an extra 25mg a day from tues, I had an early scan and it was the recurrent consultant that scanted me and she too said to me make sure you up your thyroid meds, so I have been told two different things all I want to do is the best and what's right what would you ladies do? sorry for the long post

I would take the meds and get retested. That's how it is normally done. I don't know why your endocrinologist told you last year that your dose wouldn't change in pregnancy. It is normal to test regularly during pregnancy to and keep levels within range (btw, in pregnancy the normal range is tighter than outside of pregnancy).

Sorry I really don't know about wheatgrass. I would ask the question again in the lttc section as the ladies there usually have done a lot of research into egg quality.

Kelly I think if would get re tested in 6w, Mr S wants me below 2.5 all the time so you being at 0.9 at mo is fine.

My thyroid kept within range until just after 20w where it went from1.8 to 3.7, that's when I increases my meds

It just needs monitoring closely, ideally every 6w ,
Every 4 if you can x

They said I could get it tested every 6 weeks which is good but do you think I should take the extra 25mg?

If it was me I wouldn't based on your tsh of 0.9, my tsh actually dropped first tri x

Hello all, just a quick update from me.

I've had all my cancer scans and another exploratory procedure yesterday and they've stages the cancer as 1b1 which thankfully is treatable and I 'should' only need a hysterectomy. I'm gutted about it but at least I'll live and see my little boy grow up.

Thanks for all the support and well wishes xxxx

That's a great update LPF. I know you must be gutted about the hysterectomy but you're right, you will get to see all your little boys milestones. Maybe one day when you are recovered you can look into fostering or adoption if you would like more children. It probably isn't what you want right now but may be an option down the line. Happy for you. xx

Oh LPF, I'm so relieved the results are better than you feared :hugs: I'm sure the recovery will be physically and emotionally difficult but a recovery it will be!
Big  for your operation, hon :flower:

I've not heard of wheatgrass. As someone else said, you could take DHEA. But if you have PCOS, do not take DHEA, as it will keep your testosterone high.

LPF, it's still heartbreaking to have the hysterectomy, but you will recover and see your son grow up. That is great news!

LPF-glad to hear your scans and tests went okay. I've been thinking about you. And as Petitpas said, recovery will be hard in many ways but the important thing is that it's a recovery. Good luck and keep us updated when you feel up to it/are able to.

LPF - I was wondering what your results were and I'm so relieved to hear that it's treatable! Must be a weight lifted. Crappy situation overall but at least you'll be around for your little boy :hugs:.

LPF, so sorry to hear you need a hysterectomy, but so glad it's not as bad as you feared & treatable. All the best :hugs:

LPF - I'm really glad to hear the results were better than you feared, I'm really sorry about having to have the hysterectomy and hope you recover soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES!!!!

LPF - so sorry to read your news hun - when will this happen? :hugs:

Good luck to all the mamas to be - hope you are doing well and cooking those little rainbows:happydance:

AFM - My AF has gone MIA I'm on CD 47 (those of you that know me - I've had 7mcs and usually only have 21 day cycles!)

So the Dr did some bloods and in conclusion - says it's my age (44) and that I am now probably in the peri-menopause (basically he needs to put me in a box) and my age gives him that opportunity.

This has come as a bit of a shock as I was pg back in September 2014 - this time I have had a blood test deff not pregnant but my hormone levels seemed fine to me apart from B12 (does anyone know anything about B12????) my score was 179 should be 187 so off I go to google:cry::cry::cry: first thing I come across B12 and miscarriage - I have never been tested for this I don't think???

So now I have to go back in a few weeks and have another B12 blood test done just to see what is happening:wacko:

Anyone able to help - is this score as bad as my crazy mind thinks it is - could this simple thing have been the reason for my miscarriages:cry::cry:

Oh why oh why did I google:growlmad:

:hugs:

X

Garfie, I don't know specifically about b12 but I know the b vitamins are important. But, please don't beat yourself up - since starting taking a b vitamin complex, I fell pregnant 3 out of 4 cycles, but only the last one has stuck. So I think that although b12 might help you, I doubt that by itself it's the reason for your losses so in no way your fault. Plus your levels aren't that much lower. I hope it's not peri-menopause for you yet. Good luck.

Garfie something is telling me that B12 deficiency is linked to an auto immune disease pernicious anaemia..............

You havent got any other auto immune diseases have you??

xx

Hi hope - not that I am aware of, nobody has said so.

Would the levels suggest a possible problem?

How are things with you hun.

Squig - thanks for the advice hun - I guess it just came as a shock to be told this yesterday - today I feel a bit stronger (still no af:wacko:)

I'm so happy to hear that it is in the early stages and that they can treat it! You are a very strong woman to be able to go through this and still see the bright side to it all :)
