Hi all,

thought i would share this with you. I initially posted this is TTC #1 forum but i think i really belong here now! Been TTC for 3 years, no joy and unexplained.

i have started to have reflexology as it has been recommended...this month we timed it so that i would have a session just before I ov'ed...so had a session on Day 14 (i usually OV at Day 16).

what was realy interesting is that she said she could feel that this month i am going to OV from my right ovary...as my right foot was twitching more than the left. mental!!

not sure if there is anything i can do with this information..was wondeirng if i shuld start lying on my right hand side after BD to help the swimmers go down that fallopian tube...or is that just nonsense??

any advice? does it help to know which side you are ov'ing from? and does this mean that next month i will ov from the right hand side?

good luck to you al this month xxxx

I can only confirm that this does not mean that next month you will ov from the other ovary, it is random. I only found this out a few months ago while FS monitored my ovulation, for two cycles in a raw I ovulated from the same ovary. Sometimes I can tell which ovary is ovulating by the ovulation pain.

Let us know if Reflexology helped. I am into chinese medicine at the moment, drinking really nasty herbal chinese tea and hoping for a miracle

Hi Briss, interesting to know you just ov randomly, i never realised that. i saw from your ticker that you are avoiding prefume - can you tell me why? i have never heard if that before - can it help TTC?

we have our first private appointment at an IVF centre this weekend - just desperate to get things moving! Good luck with the Chinese Herbs, i had a friend that to them after TTC for one year and she swears they helped her get PG the first month she took them.

I tried reflexology but I didn't have any luck that month but I've heard amazing things about accupuncture. Have you thought about giving that a go?

As for your question re ovulation, I'd say just put your bum in the air as, whether you ov from the right or left, you want it to go through the cervix first so I wouldn't have thought it would make any difference. Good luck. Really hope your BFP is on its way xxx

re perfume it's one of those things that no one really knows for sure but you do them just in case. BTW coffee is far more important factor which I am failing miserably to quit. there is some research that perfume (including lotions) may have negative effect on pregnant women and some linked it to conception.

Good luck with IVF! we are also planning to start IVF this year, that is our FS is planning, while I still sincerely hope I will manage to get there naturally

I have heard a lot about Chinese Herbs and treatments how they really help, but I think it all depends on the practitioner. My first experience was very unfortunate I ended up in A&E after 3-4 hours of chinese treatments. I read somewhere that not all chinese treatments are suitable for europeans, there are certain genetic differences. I might be talking rubbish here but am still a beginner in this new Chinese medicine world and a nurse at A&E recommended to start with a lighter version adopted by NHS. in the end I decided to skip on treatments for a while and just do the herbs. after all how bad can they be?

Wow, I have never heard of anyone having to go to A&E after Chinese herbs, must have been a strong reaction! Hope the lower dose works out for you. I did try acupuncture for a while but I never really felt like it did anything for me, but am loving the reflexology, perhaps it is all down to who is giving the treatment and who you feel most relaxed with. Will you have to self fund your treatment? We will unfortunately but at least I kind of now feel I am taking control rather than having to wait for the NHs.
Good luck this month!

sorry I was not clear A&E trip was not due to herbs but to treatments there was a mixture of acupuncture, a few others which were REALLY painful I could barely tolerate the pain but the chinese doctor said the pain is due to toxins and stagnation and pressed on so I ended up looking like I have been properly beaten up, all bruised so when my husband so all these bruises he got shocked and suggested a trip to A&E just to be on the safe side :)

as for IVF I hope the first one will be free but it depends on the lap results.

Wow brisk, that does sound like you went through the mill on that one. I have a friend who is really in to Chinese medicine and she has suggested that I might have liver qui stagnation????no idea wha that is but she advised me to do this detox which is basically eating this soup made with veg and ghee for 3 days....she swears it helped one of her friends get pregnant...but. Am a bit sceptical.
What is a lap test? Good luck with it whatever it is xx

I think in chinese medicine (as any other) you have good and not so good specialists, and because it is so different to what we are used to I am not sure I can distinguish one from other and i do not have any chinese friends who could recommend a proper doctor so I just went to a nearest chinese clinic - big mistake...should have done research first.

lap is laparoscopy but I will also be doing hysteroscopy at the same time before FS can refer me for IVF she said success of IVF depends on these two tests.

I am hoping to start acupuncture and reflexology in a few months. have been doing a fair bit of research on western diet and lifestyle and I know that most Chinese practitioners advise cutting out milk due to oestrogen levels.

When you look at the countries most affected by infertility it does seem to be those that eat the most processed foods and consume the most dairy. I am a dairy fiend so really struggling with this one but next cycle is my last try with clomid so will be going cold turkey from CD1, thankfully almond milk is bearable!

I have also read about dairy products not being recommended by chinese doctors but to be honest I personally do not think this is suitable for us (unless you have allergy), milk contains tonnes of good stuff, this is most natural product you can get so I firmly believe that it should be present in our diet but in moderation

Briss I did have the same belief as you and switched to organic full fat as less nasties in it but I am still worried about the high levels of Oestrogen in it

Hello, I just wanted to say that my acupuncturist who is does traditional chinese medicine recommended that I drink more milk! So I guess it just depends on what they think you need?? She said I'm undernourished and need more protein. Definitely feel better so far....come on bfp!!

I have checked online and it seems that oestrogen only comes from pregnant cows. it is interesting to know whether organic farms also milk pregnant cows? if not then you are probably safe using their milk.

I am in now way a cattle expert (despite living in one of the main farming counties of the UK) but I thought that cows were pregnant a large chunk of the time to ensure their milk supply doesn't dry up?

In all honesty (not to sound like a soap box zealot) the whole dairy farming upsets me more then milk farming but I am scared to give it up completely as I don't really eat too much meat and milk is a good source of protein for me.

I wish someone would just give a clear set of guidelines for fertility that weren't contradicted all the time :(
