Repeated bronchiolitis?

At 3 months old my DS got bronchiolitis and didn't need to be in hospital but did suffer quite a bit - lots of coughing, vomiting, rattling chest and crackling on exhaling.

Fast forward 4 months and he's got it for a 3rd time? The bit I'm really unsure of is the dry hacking cough that precedes the loose chest - my ds can cough every night in his cot for hours and this can last 2-3 weeks before the actual signs of bronchiolitis occur. So basically since 3 months old he's been coughing for most of 4 months! Say 3 weeks out of 4? He does cough in the day too but mainly night.

Any ideas? is this what bronchiolitis does when it's recurrent? Any similar stories? It's so sad hearing him coughing for hours a night. He manages to not wake up to cry amazingly

Mild in his father but he outgrew it . .. I was thinking that too but can that lead to cycles brochiolitis/upper respiratory viruses?

I have very mild asthma, and every time I get a cold I have to double my usual dose of steroids because if I don't it always ends up on my chest and being hard to shift. When I take double steroids I'm free of it in the usual time frame for a cold.

hi hun my little guy has had recurrent bronchiolitis. not quite as often as your little one. hes 15 months and has had it 4 times so far (first landed him in PICU.. the last one we just avoided hospital by a hair).
he has suspected asthma as he was constantly coughing too and catching every bug going. he has a preventer inhaler for morning and night and one for one it gets bad. When he starts with the cough it tends to last for a week or so before it moved down to his chest and gets bad quickly (i.e few weeks back one day his chest was clear but he was wheezing and crackling while breathing.. the next day he was put on antibiotics because his lungs were full of rubbish and it was too much to just be bronchiolitis on its own, it was moving towards pneumonia)
xx
