rhys in hospital - update page one

[Tezzy]

rhys had a severe allergic reaction something.

just popped home to get some bits.

phone is broken. will update when i can.

well oh my god.. what a scary day.

we are home now and rhys is asleep on the couch so i can update you all.

basically about 11am we got ready to go to my inlaws for lunch, we decided to walk there, so off we went.

on the way there rhys was on the buggy board facing me and i noticed his cheeks looked really red.. and puffy.. we carried on walking and by the time we got to the end of the street his whole face had blown out like a balloon. we ran home, shoved the kids in the car and raced to AandE. i cant describe what rhys face looked like, distorted, swollen, bright red, like it was about to pop.

we got to the hospital and was seen straight away, they said he had had an allergic reaction to something and needed antihistamens (sp?) straight away. left colin with rhys and they dragged me to one side to ask about what he'd eaten.. there was nothing new.

so they gave him something and the swelling started going down, i came home to get some bits for him incase he needed to be in overnight.

by the time i got back rhys' face was almost ok..

then..

colin picked rhys up for a cuddle and OMFG he started swelling up again. immediatly i knew i needed to give rhys a bath...

colin had had new deoderant for christmas... and he had given rhys a cuddle before we had set off for his parents.

so we bathed rhys and changed his clothes and colin went home and showered and changed his clothes.

we got home about an hour ago, we've been given some medicine etc and we have to go back for another appointment.

I can fully understand what you are going thru.

Gabriel had an allergic reaction to a mouthful of fish when he was 3. I have never been so scared in my entire life. I was just lelieved that our Gp surgery was 2 mins down the road.

Glad u worked out what it was.

Always keep a bottle of piriton in the cupboard just in case.

When we go out i'm so paranoid I take a bottle out in my bag, plus his epipen.
