Rings in pictures

K. This is completely random. But why are so many HPT test pics taken with rings?

The rings help the camera focus on the strips, or at least on something CLOSE to the strips, so you get a clear shot. Unless I have a big bank of strips I'm photographing, my phone just laughs at me with no ring to help it focus. It's just a white blob!

me too.. but for many of the pics, I can't really see the strips too (even with the ring).. but that's just me..

Yeah its so the camera has something to focus on, to make the photo clear instead of out-of-focus or blurry I know my phone camera struggles to focus on tests up close because they are so flat (to get a good picture of the result). I guess you can use anything but I think most people will have their ring handy to use xx
