Hi all,
Bit of a newbie here but have been reading the posts on and off for a long while.
Unfortunately my partner has low everything and I have just got him started on a multi-vitamin, L-Carnitine, Zinc and MACA. We will test him again in 3 months.
It will be so interesting to see if my suggestions will help!
The scary thing (for me) is that he wants to start trying anyway.
I feel a little nervous about whether or not his bad quality sperm could cause miscarriages, or produce a sick or deformed child.
I have tried to do a little bit of research on whether or not there is more chance of problems - and they very vaguely say it doesn't 'seem' so. Does anyone know much about this?
Theoretically the low motility/low morphology ones shouldn't make it to the egg anyway.....
I think I would rather do IVF so that the fertility specialists choose the best graded /best performing egg and I can have peace of mind that we did the best we could. (Also, my partners work will pay for this so the extra costs vs going naturally won't be a factor for us)
The other reason for going the IVF route is so that we may have some back ups for a second child later down the track.
I am nearly 38 now so if I got pregnant naturally now - I lose another two more years of age and trying for the second. This means I wouldn't start trying for the second until I am 40. It just seems like a good idea to freeze as many as we can now while we have the chance to stockpile to improve our odds once I am 40+.
He keeps saying he wants to try naturally now - I think he wants to try naturally as an ego male thing - just so he can say he did it lol.
I'd rather go the IVF route. Does anyone agree?! Or am I being a control freak haha.
So anyway, has anyone done any research into the risks of trying naturally with bad male fertility? Was anyone else really nervous/sick about the thought of what may happen with bad quality sperm?
Thank you!
(PS Luckily he is away for the next 6 weeks - plus I don't want a christmas or NYE baby so at least in the meantime he can work on his quality with vitamins and we can aim to start in MAY )
