Hi ladies,

I see a lot of women on here trying to get baby out by drinking RLT. It wont work because its doesn't bring on labour.

What it does is tone and strengthen your uterus over a period of weeks. It makes your contractions more efficient and the pushing part of labour easier and shorter. Most women start taking it at 32-34 weeks.

Just don't waste your money on it if your 38 weeks and trying to evict your baby because it will not work! :flower:

2bh i dont think anything works... only thing you can do is trick your body into labour by a constant trigger of oxytocin... and that takes weeks... babys come when they are good and ready... x

There seem to be a lot of people who think it's supposed to bring on labour. I posted in a thread awhile back about starting to drink it at 32 weeks (to tone my uterus, not bring on labour!!) and had someone talk about putting the baby at risk because it can bring on early labour.

Yeah I see it all the time in these threads.. I also saw one woman say that her mw told her it could put her in labour

Amen!

Good post!

Worth drinking though as I hear great thinks about it shortening stage 2, and also great post pardum for getting your uterus back to normal size.

I understand why people want to 'evict' the LO .. trust me I do .. being 38 weeks pregnant in 40f heat .. I was DONE, but at the end of the day, that kid aint coming out till its good and ready! Even bouncing on a yoga ball for 12 hours a day don't work *ahem*

I realise it doesn't bring on labour but have heard about it helping the labour of you drink it from 34 weeks so going to give it a bash

I do agree that a baby won't come out until it's good and ready

Oh I totally get that people want to evict their babies! Im only 36 weeks and soooo uncomfortable and I'm ready to have him at anytime!! I just wanted to let people know RLT wont do it :)

lol my SIL called me selfish and all these other thing because I was trying to induce baby at 34 week by eating raspberry pie. A lot of people dont understand what rlt does and what rlt is.

Really? Wow!

Mmmm pie.

LOL, I know. I laughed it off.

I agree so many people gets confused over this  ive been taking 2 capsules a day from 32 weeks and now up'd to 4 a day from 36 weeks  (dont like the tea YUK) Xx

I have to admit I had a go at the guy in holland & barrett last week when I went to buy another box because he tried to tell me how and when to take it. I know he was only thinking about my best interest but I made sure he had his facts right after telling me I wasn't allowed to take it before 38weeks. I think even if someone did start drinking it at 38weeks they would soon realise that it wasn't going to start labour, it could still have a small effect on their 2nd stage though

I agree that was my understadning too - and I'd much rather have it shorten / improve the second stage than do anything else :)

Only thing I was wondeirng is you're not supposed to drink in first (and possibly second) trimester - why is that?

Im loving the taste of it anyways so whatever help it gives me is a bonus!

Mmmmmmmm.

I took it from 36 weeks and my labour my active labour was only 41 mins... Was it the RL? im not sure (I took capsules).

I know it dont bring on labour but i think i read somewhere that if u take it early on and u have a irritable uturse (sorry spellin crap .. im ill lol) then it CAN bring on labour. So at say 33 weeks you dont know that so u could take it and it bring u on pre term labour.

i took it when pg with LM last year and my labour from first contraction to delivery of placenta was 3 hours 25 mins, at the time my consultant said it was pointless taking it and it was herbal mumbo jumbo but this time she has told me to begin talking it to try for my induction in a few weeks, so i taught her something lol!! she actually believes like me that it helped make my labour more efficient and shorter. i have heard that you should keep taking it after delivery, does anyone have any info on this? xx

apparently it helps with the after pains/ womb shrinkage after :D
