I use Bondi Sands (I'm in Australia, not sure if sold elsewhere) and it is safe to use. I rang them and they advised it's only the top layer of skin that's affected by DHA so it isn't harmful to baby but that if I'm concerned I could cover my mouth/nose while applying it so I don't breathe it in.
I don't judge what anyone else decides to do whilst there pregnant, call me blunt but I don't really care if it doesn't affect me or my baby but I do think some people go a little over the top with things - again not judging, it's just not how I roll. I'm a pretty laid back person by nature though and I just make sure I'm not doing anything overtly dangerous, but I'm willing to let some things slide ie I still get my nails & hair done or I'll eat the occasional soft serve ice-cream - things I'm technically not supposed to be doing while pregnant but geez no-one is perfect and it's a hell of a lot better than what people in my parents era did whilst pregnant.
