LO turns one this week. I want to wean but she gets upset. I keep caving.

I need to be done soon. But as a SAHM I am really too accessible.

Help!

I'd say cut back to as few as possible, one in the morning, one at night and offer milk as she's almost one now and a story to cuddle and read to her instead when she ques she wants it.

If she's allergic to milk, there is almond milk which tastes like breastmilk in my opinion (I tried mine to know the difference between spoiled expressed and fresh as it doesn't always smell bad).

But if she's already down to just morning and night feeds slowly cut them of by offering something else and cuddles such as a book or movie as some just like the closeness.

I haven't yet dealt with weaning but I know a friend who did and did what I mentioned above. Hope it works out for you!

Do you really want to wean or is it just because you think you ought to?

As long as it is truly that you want to, I'd try to think of places you can be that are more exciting than bf around the time of one feed. e.g my daughter dropped her 10:30am feed by herself, because we were always at some kind of toddler group where they served snacks and she'd rather be playing with other children and eating cheese than on me unable to see what was going on! If you are at the park for example and she asks to feed maybe say "When we get home darling, look the swing is free lets go on that" and try to be active and avoid sitting down at "those times" when you know she'll probably want one.

Once she has happily let go of one feed you may find she is happier about dropping others.

I never want to encourage people to wean though because bf was such a godsend when it came to teething/nightmares/stomach bugs etc. I don't know how I would have coped without it!!!! However I do understand why people just want to be done with it.
