Same Name in the Family

Is it too weird to give our baby the same name as another baby in the family? I've always loved a particular name, but last year, DH's cousin gave that name to his child. We are not close to these cousins, but the whole enormous family gets together about 2 or 3 times a year, so we do see each other. Would it be weird or inappropriate for us to use that name? Our baby would be 2nd cousins with that baby.

Just use it. Passing on family names has been done for years.

I'd absolutely use it if it isn't a sibling or someone you see on a regular basis.

Agreed - if you love it - use it! There will probably be a time when the kids become adults and you no longer get together with the larger family group and it won't even be an issue!

My husband cousin named their daughter the same as our first born. We dont see them but feel such an honor hey chose the same. They also have the same star signx
