My kids are into Santa at the moment. But how will I get them to thank people for gifts if they think Santa brings them the pressies?

We take the approach that most presents aren't from Santa. They're from the people they're from. And Santa leaves a small present along with her stocking on Christmas morning (so all the presents under the tree are from us or other friends/family, not Santa). If you want to have more presents from Santa, that's fine, but I would definitely emphasise that the presents that are from actual people she knows are from them and she can say thank you to them or write a thank you card to send. In our house, we leave mince pie and carrots and a drink for Santa and the reindeer as a thank you (and then her little present and stocking get left on the window sill next to that). So you could do that and write a little thank you to leave with it or I think just having them say thank you (they could shout out the window after opening presents!) is nice too.

We buy the presents from Santa. We then buy a few more from us, and she knows that family buy her other gifts so she says thank you to them :)

We do only a few gifts from Santa, and we buy them so she would've been thanking us. Any gifts that anyone else gives her are from those people so she knows to thank them.

I usually take a picture of them opening and send that...but we dont do all presents for santa either. X

Are you saying that all presents are from Santa, even from other family/friends? If so I would probably just write the card yourself and include a picture your LO has drawn of themselves playing with that particular present or a photo of them opening/playing with it.

We normally have the family member give the gift I person so they can see them opening it.

Santa gifts are only from us, they'll know who gets everything else

We just do stockings from Santa. I believe that was the old tradition - that you'd hang up a sock and he'd come and fill it lol.

Santa only brings gifts in a stocking/sack in our house that he delivers on Christmas Eve. Everything else is put under the Xmas tree saying who it's from. Santa only brings some fun extras, not everything for us.

If you do all gifts from Santa, then I guess you'd need to write the cards. I buy all my dd's Santa gifts and the gifts she gets from other people are tagged from them.

Gifts from family and friends go under the tree with a gift tag on them so that we can thank them, these are then handed out one at a time when we are all in the room. Santa gifts are separated elsewhere in the room and if Ds decides to sneak down before the rest of the house are up and about he can 'discover' these himself.
