I had 2 miscarriages before Alex, after the first one I was told by EPU that the next time I got a :bfp: , i should call and book a scan for 8 weeks. And I did.

Now after Alex, would it still apply?

What kind of management is there for a second pregnancy? What 'options' is there to help?

 I only just found out, she's gonna be a big sister  :dohh:

Congratulations :D ring the hospital and book an early pregnancy scan, you shod be under consultant care this time because alex was so prem xx

Olivias_mum! How are things? People have been worried about you in Baby Club! xxxx

Awww congratulations!!! :flower:

I would ring them, and see your family GP as soon as possible too so the wheels can be set in motions.

I am 25 weeks pregnant after having a preemie at 29 weeks due to pre-eclampsia, and I cannot fault the care I have received this time around, even if it does feel like I live at the hospital/midwives.

My care plan is something like this:
Aspirin and calcium from week 12 to 36.
Monthly consultant appointments.
Monthly midwife appointments to coincide fortnightly with consultants.
Specialist uterine doppler scan at 24 weeks.
Growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks.
Pee sticks at home to self test for protein from 26 weeks.

Luckily my specialist scan showed a perfect blood flow through the baby and between me and the baby, so the consultant believes I am showing no signs of developing early pre-eclampsia again, therefore they are pushing and supporting me to try for a VBAC this time if all continues well :happydance:

And I am guessing if there was no known cause for Alex's prematurity and you went into labour, then they may do internal cervix checks to check the length of your cervix, and put in place a possible stitch.

Like they keep telling me; each pregnancy is different, as is each baby...so although I am a bundle of nerves still, more so as I approach that 29 week mark, I am still hopeful this time

Awww, yay - congratulations :) Not sure if I am meant to know seeing as how I know you personally but I won't tell anyone..SHHHHHH!

you&me - it's really good that you get so much care the second time round - I had pre eclampsia at 27 weeks (well it was suspected from 25 weeks) and I would love another baby in a couple of years but I'm soooo scared of it happening again...

Katy - I know you and Dona will find out on here and besides, we shared so much already :hugs:

So you two have to shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :shhh: xxxxx

It took me nearly 5 years to feel 'ready' to even want another baby and to risk the chance of it happening again...but it really is amazing what they can do these days, and the care you would receive would be excellent...I was high risk of developing it again as this lil girl I am baking has a different father to Reagan, but everything seems good so far, although through worry I feel guilty in saying I haven't enjoyed the pregnancy as much as I did first time around when I was much more naive to anything going wrong...this pregnancy does feel different, I feel better in myself, the baby is much more active and stronger in her kicks, which I realise now is normal, I just never had anything to compare that too with my first pregnancy.

Awww, I hope it all goes well for you this time :) Sounds like it's going well so far. If I ever risk getting pregnant again, I will be so scared the whole way through. I had a really good pregnancy the first time, no morning sickness or anything and I know if I had another baby and no morning sickness I'd be worrying in case it was connected!!! Does it make a difference then if it's with the same partner or a different partner? xxxx

You're right, we have shared so much already :) Nobody will hear it from me :hugs: I'm soooo happy for you! xxxxxxx

I am so scared, i dunno what made me test, and it was there. Not planned, obviously ;)

Awww, you are going to go through a whole range of emotions, scared, fear, worry, uncertain, excitement, hope...and many more...but it will be so worth it...here's hoping to a healthy and long pregnancy...the best surprises are those that aren't planned

Congratulations hun! I'm so happy for you but scared too. My friend has gone on from having little Tapha at 24 weeks to now being 36 weeks gone! Honest, I might be OK but I still feel your fear too if you know what I mean. xxx

argh argh arrrrrggggh omg i hope i can get that far as Taphas mummy!

I had no idea! and now i have the fun run today

OMG :wohoo: saw this and thought you were testing the water congrats.

Id ask to go to EPU you would more than likely have consultant led care and lots of bonus scans. Im SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous xx

I did this on your other thread, but I'll do it here too. Congratulations!!

I know what you must be going through, I'd be exactly the same. Especially as they have no idea why it happened the first time. Its not like they have something in particular they need to look out for. Hopefully they will take the cautious route and make sure they see you lots, but if you think at any time you need more care, shout and scream til you get it. After my first bleed, that's what I did. Booked extra scans, saw the local midwife lots and had two unscheduled appointments with my consultant.

We've had a few mums go full term after a preemie on here, I have everything crossed that you will too.
