i dont know how to start. i am going to be a father for the first time and dont know how to face the situation. my wife is now over 13 weeks pregnant, everything was going fine until end of 12th week. we had our first ultrasound on 20th and it was beautiful. we saw the baby for the first time and it was awesome. everything was fine. nuchal translucency was 1.1. On 22nd morning my wife said she was bleeding i rushed her to the hospital by the time we reached hospital her trousers were soaked in blood. doctors started treating her and conducted an ultrasound. this time the nuchal translucency was 3.7. doctor said it is not good. we had "double marker" test done on 21st (the day before bleeding) which came out fine. now my doctor says that there might be a slite chance of abnormality in child like DS and others. we have to go through genetic counseling next week. my wife is scared to death, i am too but trying to be positive at least in front of her. btw my wife is 24 and i am 31.

Hi. I am so sorry to hear this. I am 28 with 3 kids and had no complications, DH is only 24, no family history in either side and we had our nt scan and were told the nuchal fold was 5.7mm! We are very nervous as to what the blood work will show this week when it comes in. I just want to tell you that the number of the fold plus the ages of you and your wide sound like everything could turn out perfectly for you guys. I will pray for your baby and please do update! I'm reading everything I can to find stories to encourage us an educate is but I still can't help but worry.

Thanks for sharing

I haven't personally had the issue you speak about but just wanted to encourage you. There are a lot of inspirational stories from people that have faced what you are currently going through and there have been countless successful conclusions, i am really hoping for the same for you and your wife.

Hang in there. I believe you will be offered more tests that will let you know for sure what is really going on so it might not all be doom and gloom.

Best of luck and hope your little bub is ok at the end. Keep us updated.
