OMG! This is shocking and scary. I dont live in the us but thanks for sharing xx

Not that as parents we should not be aware of horrible stuff happening to our children, but emails like this always set off alarm buttons for me. Especially since I remember an episode of CSI that resembled this abduction method. So I always head to Snopes.com and check them out. I guess I am now just jaded and cynical when it comes to the internet. Here is the link to this particular incident.

I think as parents we have enough to be afraid of and worried about without email horror stories that are not true. It makes me mad that people send this kind of stuff out to scare us so. I know the intentions are good, but tell us the real dangers that we need to be aware of, what are the chance of a kidnapper being a stanger as opposed to a friend of the family or a member of the family.

I forget about checking out snopes.com, sorry if I have offended you in any way. I just read this and immediately was shocked, but could definately see this happen though. I personally think it is better to be aware of your surroundings rather than have something similar to this happen, better safe than sorry. I don't know about where you live, but where I live (general area) kidnappings are very common (I live in a pretty nice area too), whether it's children, teenagers or adults. I just wanted to warn people, not offend in any way. Thank you for the information on the snopes, I need to remember to utilize that website more.

Someone got there before me, but yes this is an urban myth that actually started as long ago as the mid 80s.

Don't believe everything you hear, and believe less of what you read. ;)

Oh no Cparks you did not offend me at all love. Trust me when I say there are few more paranoid people than myself. My father was a cop, and I was raised to be sooooooo paranoid. There seem to be spates of kidnappings here in the Austin area, more often than not, it is a family member. It makes me sad sometimes to think of the way the world is in, and all the things we have to worry about with our babies and warn them about. :hugs:

That's exactly what I was going to do. Family and friends love to forward all kinds of crap to me everyday- 95% of these warning emails have been on snopes.com for years.
