Second appointment - definitely IVF for us

Hope you're all well.
DH and I had our second appointment yesterday with the fertility spec and it's definitelly going to be IVF for us.
We've gotta go back in May for HIV, Hepatitus etc blood tests and an information session with a nurse. At this they'll go into detail about all the stages and then we'll start treatment after that on the next cycle.
Ooooer!!

We didn't have any more tests done - I thought I'd need a HSG or Hycosy or something, but they just did FSH levels and SA for hubby. Is that normal??
I think maybe it's because they already know about my history of ovarian cysts and endo - maybe they thought why do tests when they know what the cause probably is

We're really excited now and a bit scared at the same time! I'm worried about going through all the treatment and not being successfull. Need to keep thinking positive! lol

Anyway just thought I'd update how it went.

Hey starbright me too are needing ivf due to partners sperm.. I remember you from ttc section.. We had no tests as of yet, PCT are messing with funding so no doubt were going to be in for a long wait

We have had the normal sperm, blood tests and I did have a HSG scan but to be honest i find each hospital tries different approach, if they dont think you need a HSG then i assume they dont need to do one.. I think your in the best hands so i think they know what there doing.. Good luck huni xx

We are going for IVF as well. DH has a low sperm count and apart from a few blood tests for me they haven't really investigated me at all.

Great that yours is going to be so soon. We got told it will be the end of the year for us.

Sorry to hear that its going to be IVF for you... BUT I really hope that it works for you!!

Its strange isnt it how PCT's act differently because you would think that a CD21 and HSG would be the most obvious tests to do first if you get what I mean. Whats the point in trying clomid if your tubes are damaged and there is no where for the eggs go... iygwim.

Hun, they knew i have endo- there was my endometrima starring at them from the ultrasound picture, yet they still drove me through hell and back! I've had numerous ultrasounds 4 or 5, hsg, blood tests, even a lap,it was just then when they said enough is enough and discharged me - they said i should sit tight and wait on the 2year long nhs ivf waiting list! .... No even clomid for me because of MF! So we went ahead and decided to pay for a cycle ourselves otherwise i need to be put on injections because of endo!
So, as the ladies said, it's different! hope it all works out 4 you!

Hi Starbright; me & my DH are heading for IVF (well, ICSI prob) in a few months.

We just had day 21 bloods for me, and SAs for DH. They said we def need ICSI due to the SA results & that further tests wouldn't be needed for me cause even if my tubes are blocked, the IVF by-passes that anyway so it doesn't matter.

I think just before the IVF they will do a scan to check anyway but not sure if that happens everywhere.

I have severe endo, have had a total nightmare with it, and recently got my from IVF.
