Totally! I've been on a higher fat diet, not a fad one, just adding coconut oil and more meat and dairy to my diet, and I've lost weight. The most decent amount of weight I've ever lost in a reasonable period of time. I didn't cut things out, or calorie count.
My children have high fat everything. Granted we use a lot of coconut oil which has medium chain fatty acids rather than long chain...but Thomas has lost weight (15.9kg to 15.4kg over a year), our skin conditions have all improved immensly and my cholesterol has gone down. I've also gone from borderline diabetic to normal.
I don't even like cows milk all that much as a food source, so don't worry about getting low fat.
