Hi there,

Has anyone been in this situation? I am basically kicking my df out, I'm hoping that over a few months it might give him a rocket up his bum to get him to sort out his behaviour (long story I wont go in to), but what do I do about money in the meantime? I hope he will see sense and it will only be a few months apart but it could be permanent i just dont know.

I have 2 under 2 and am still on maternity coz my son is only 13 weeks old. I will still get mat pay (£138 a week) until February then hoping I can go back to work part time but cant afford the bills on that alone! Anyone know what I can do?
It says online that if its a temporary separation then I shouldnt claim benefits such as housing benefit but I dont know whether this is going to be temporary or not? Bottom line is he is leaving and I will be the only one my kids will be depending on financially (his behaviour is related to finances so I cant count on him giving us anything to help). And I cant afford child care for 2 kids in order to go back to work full time, even with child care vouchers as I dont earn a great deal of money.

Anyone know what help I can get/any advice?

TIA

I would go ahead and apply for everything. You can always s withdraw an application if circumstances change. I believe single parents are entitled to a few extras so i would call the job centre about that. Inform the tax credit people too as i believe the thresholds are different for single people. Good luck x

Thanks, I just dont know what it is I'd get and I'm so worried I wont be able to afford it! But my df is getting us further into debt so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place really

Make sure your finances are separate from his so your credit history doesn't get affected.

If they turn you down now on the benefits you can always reapply and they should backdate.

I'm not sure about other options, just wanted to say hope it all works out.
