Settling?

Sagan, Sage for short - (Say-gehn)...means "wise"
I absolutely love it, and had at one time decided that was my first child's name, regardless of gender. Now it's reserved for a girl. Sounds strong, unique without being "weird", and has a great meaning! :)

Just wanted to chime in - I know a beautiful baby boy named Sagan. To be honest, at first I was quite unsure of the name. But now that I have gotten used to it - I LOVE it!

It really grows on you, doesn't it?!! :)
For me, it became the one name I just cant let go of...

Hey Buffy, what do you think of Cason (or maybe Kason)?

Just came across it in another forum and thought I'd pass it on for consideration.

Do you pronounce it like "Kay-son?" I think I prefer the K spelling to the C spelling.

Thanks for thinking of me :flower:

It's ok to settle. I've come to realise there isn't a universally perfect name for your child like I wanted there to be. If we have a 3rd girl her name will likely be Jessica. Doesn't thrill me but it's a nice name that we both like and we can only hope she will like it too.

With your sib set the name Seren comes to mind (one on my "guilty pleasures" list)

Thanks Nica! It's not a name I have considered before, but it's actually really nice! I'll run it past the dh to see if I can officially put it on my list!

We're set on a girls name, but I'm sure one of us will have to settle on a boy's name, if not both of us. There's really no alternative if the perfect name doesn't present itself, is there? I'm hoping we have a girl so we don't have to argue boy names...

He really wants Vincent, after his grandfather, but he barely knew his grandfather (he died when DH was a toddler), and I don't adore the name. I told him if he wants that name, he'd better talk to some of his relatives about it and make sure grandpa was worth naming after, because if we're going to honor somebody with a name, I can think of a few people who have had much bigger impacts on our life. If he agrees to ditch it as a first name, he can use it as a middle no questions asked. If he does ask around and really insist on Vincent, I'm picking the middle name, whether he likes it or not ;)

I'm liking Theodore, but I don't have my heart set on it or anything. I bought a baby name book to flip through to see if I'm inspired by any boy names, and because we don't have a middle name for a girl yet.

I think Vincent is a nice middle name :) I think middle names are perfect for honouring family members.

I agree!
I feel strongly that a child should get their own first name, but middle names are fair game.

...and yes, it would be pronounced Kayson.
:)
