My LO is a real energizer bunny and is always "busy". She is almost 18 month and has been walking for over 5 months now. She keeps on falling over which I figured was normal but as she gets older she falls over as much as she did before and the falls are getting more and more spectacular. There have been a few heart attack moments with her tripping over near chair corners and door frames.

The nanny tells me that LO is always in a hurry and tends to run when she should walk especially around other kids. She also said that she seems to fall over more than other kids her age. LO falls over more when she's outdoors. I wonder if it is the shoes or the excitement as she is barefoot at home.

She wears clarks (lovely lovely kid proof shoes). Should I buy something more supple ? Or will she grow out of it?

Her legs are covered in bruises and grazes from tripping over all the time.

My dd is 2.5 and falls over constantly. I still do and I am nearly 30! Think dome children (and adults) are just more clumsy then others. Also she hasnt been walking all that long so she is probably still getting used to how fast she can go and she isnt wathing where she is walking which will come with time. Xx

I agree with PP, it sounds pretty normal since she's still so young. They have so much less co-ordination at this age! I'm the worlds clumsiest person and I'm surprised LO hasn't inherited that trait.

Can I ask where you got your Clarks from? I've yet to find somewhere in France that does decent well fitted shoes for toddlers (or even fittings).

The french don't do fittings. I bought them on a trip to the UK (we go back every few months to see my parents) as they are so robust and much better/cheaper than the "first" shoes we find in France.

The website Clarks France doesn't sell kids shoes. I had thought of buying a Clarks Pedimeter and ordering them on the UK site and getting a friend to post it over but it seems so complicated.

I do hope she grow out of it. The "heart stopping" moments are not good for my blood pressure and my ear drum.

Thank you :) We're visiting my family in May so I might just do the same. All the shoes I find over here are overpriced and the soles are far too rigid, I'm disappointed.

I agree about the heartstopping moments - a friends daughter just had to have surgery for a brain injury she suffered when she fell temple-first onto her dolls house. It's really rare since our little ones are so bouncy and bendy but it does make you want to cover them in bubblewrap!

My lbs been walkkng over a year and he falls out about 50x a day :haha: like hes constantly falling, gets kinda irritating but he just doesnt watch where hes going

My LO has never been wobbly. Once he started walking, he was doing pretty well. However he also gets in a hurry and trips often. I do think it's worse when he has shoes on, especially bulky ones that don't fit well (so I don't normally put them on him of course!). His Stride Rite shoes are working pretty well, but he's still better off barefoot when possible.

Tigerlilyb, that's so scary! That's it… I'm taking that pointy cornered piece of furniture out of my son's room today. I couldn't decide but I am moving it. He keeps hiding behind it and the curtains and tripping near it. I would have never thought of a kid getting surgery because of a doll house!

It's very scary! I don't want to spook anyone, I should clarify she's alright now. It just caused some fluid to build up so they had to drain it, I haven't talked much to her parents since the surgery but they said it was likely she'd lose about 30% of her hearing. She's such a gorgeous little girl, broke my heart when I heard!

My LO has never been wobbly either, just more flying baby when she falls over. She's always in a hurry and doesn't judge distances very well. She doesn't fall over so much indoors and unfortunately I can't remove all park benches in the "danger zone". My OH wants to encourage her to be independent which also means giving her a respectable distance to do what she wants or letting her fall head first in to sandbox. We found sand in her mouth hours afterwards and my OH got an ENORMOUS earful.

Brain surgery and loss of hearing........And I was just worried about concussion.

Mine goes through phases where she takes lots of tumbles, usually because she's discovered that she can run faster, climb higher, etc., and starts pushing her limits. Some kids are fearless, and it leads to them attempting stuff that's beyond their physical abilities.

My daughter fell over a lot outdoors until she was about 3.5 years, it has only improved over the last few months.

Has she had her eyes checked? Never hurts to get them looked at. My son was always clumsy too and I just chalked it up to being a boy. Then he started Junior Kindergarten and wanting to get the best start for him, I had his hearing and vision tested. Hearing was fine, but it turned out he was severely far-sighted with astigmatism. I felt guilty that I didn't recognize it sooner. Since he's had his glasses, the clumsiness has decreased...but he still acts like a rambunctious boy too.
