I did read online last night that its a medical mystery as to why women in the 1st tri suffer from shortness of breath, but what I'd like to know is that I'm not alone in this???
Every so often thru out the day I get nausea accompanied by what feels like shortness of breath, it's as tho I need to keep breathing in deep and if I lay down I just feel as though Im going to be sick, which is now totally putting me off eating...
My body temp is up too, no fever or anything- and it's making me absolutely exhausted.
Since its been 3 years since I was last in the first tri, I cant remember how normal this actually is.
Like I said, I read online that its pretty common but nobody really knows why it occurs so early in some women when the baby is still the size of a pea.
Usually it happens when the uterus starts pushing upwards.

Hi - I fond it difficult to take a deep breath at times, its not related to my sickness though.

I found it difficult right at the start (bout 5 weeks) and the last couple of days its come back, just feel like i cant inhale enough.

Doctor said it was fine and to do with the increase in hormones. I would suggest maybe getting it checked though just in case?

I've been told that the shortness of breath is due to how you've got a lot more blood being pumped around at the moment (about 1.5 times more than normal). This means that your heart and therefore lungs are working harder, so doing thing you normally do without a problem might seem like more of an effort.

xx

I get seriously short of breath after just picking up a few things around the house (when I feel well enough), it's quite comical really!

I feel dreadful tbh.. I have no energy, im so tired and i feel like i just want to keep taking deep breaths, its really getting me down :(

Oh I hear you sweetie - I feel slightly better today (just tired) but after 5 days of horrible sickness I am pretty fed up. Even today I slept most of the day. I am glad to be pregnant but let's face it, nobody likes to feel sick and tired all the time! :hugs:

I have heard that progesterone is the culprit. Do a search for yourself, but it was always worse when I was on extra progesterone..

I think this is probably my least favorite symptom (and I've had about everything it feels like). I get out of breath sitting around, let alone doing the laundry. I feel so silly as I'm not really out of shape.
It was oddly comforting before my 12 week scan knowing the baby was stealin' my oxygen :D , though I've also read progesterone is to blame. I found sitting up straight helped or even arching my back a bit.
For a few weeks I had it every day. Ugh. Now I get it maybe once a week or so.

Yeah, I have read that it's down to the increased progesterone levels too. I had it at about 4-5 weeks. Was horrible. Not had it again since thankfully, hope you feel better soon x

I have had it too, was wondering about this as i never experienced this in my previous pregnancies. xxxxxxx
