should I be getting WTC or not? Please help!

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone can help with a quick query.

I am on Maternity allowance and have just had my beautiful baby!

I am self employed but dont earn very much at all (around £5000 per year). I stopped work in Oct to be on maternity leave. My husband works all the hours god sends and earns around £20K per year. We dont get any WTC but we get CTC of £47 per week.
My friend told me yesterday that I should be entitled to WTC as I intend to return to my self emplyed work in July. She thinks that until then I should be claiming WTC??
Am I entitled to more than I am getting here? I thought we werent eligible but perhaps they dont tell you unless you ask?
I dont want to ring them to find out until someone who knows a bit more can advise me on what I should be asking for!!

because your hubby earns more than 17000 a year you wont get wtc. If you go back to work depending on your income and if you put your lo into childcare you may then get some wtc to help with the costs. But in till then your hubby earns to much. My oh earns 17000 a year and we get £6 a week and we are on the highest you can be on to get it x
