Hi I have been diagnosed with GD since 28 weeks and all they have done so far is give me oral medication that is not controlling my blood sugar. Pretty much all I can eat to keep it down is lettuce with 2 oz of salad dressing and plain chicken or fish. I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks and my little boy was already tipping the scales at 6 lbs 5 oz. they have stopped my labor twice already and I am at 39 weeks 3 cm dilated and they are saying they won't induce my labor until 42 weeks. If something DOES go wrong during labor (heaven forbid) would there be a lawsuit? Any other moms with GD please let me know if there is anything I can do to possibly convince them to induce my labor. He already weighs at least 9 lbs and I have had pelvis and hip problems before and especially during pregnancy and the docs are ignoring the pain I've been in since 22 weeks and lack of sleep. I know that every pregnant woman has problems sleeping but I can't sleep more than 30 min at a time because of hip displacement. Doesn't matter what side I sleep on both hips hurt pelvis dislodges itself when I walk an they still refuse and even stopping natural labor at 38 weeks!? Any help would be appreciated!

I am sorry you are going through this. Are you in UK? Here in the States they usually induce at 38 weeks if the blood sugar isn't controlled, or controlled with insulin. I was told that even if GD is controlled by diet alone, I should avoid post dates due to the risk of big baby and other complications. Maybe you should try and speak very seriously with your health provider... Stopping natural labor at 38 weeks sounds rediculous in your situation!!!
