I had my anomoly scan today and everything was perfect with the baby, I was overjoyed.
But I then mentioned to my doctor that one of my breasts was slightly pink, thinking she'd just say it was another annoying pregnancy symptom.
For years one of my breasts has been slightly larger than the other - this is normal for me. But she looked at them and decided to send me for an ultrasound.
I've been googling and redness in one breast is a symptom of inflamatory breast cancer. Obviously I now think that I have this.
I should be overjoyed that my baby is doing well, but all I can think about is what if I have cancer and am not around to see him grow up.
Am I being stupid? The ultrasound is not until next Saturday so I'm going to be worrying myself sick for a week.

I have had one swollen breast before (admidittly not in pregnancy), but mine was an abcess, which was helped with anti biotics. Its just an infection that you can get inn the milk ducts, and that could be what you have? Does it hurt, is it slighly uncomfortable?

Hopefully everything will be fine and you have nothing to worry about - fingers crossed. I'm sure it will be nothing major

I had redness under my breast that continued up but not quite to the nipple. I worried so much about this and told the mw. They looked at it and said they werent sure what it was. It felt quite 'thick' too touch. Like you, i googled it and worried SO much about it. Well after my pregnancy it went and never came back. I have no idea what it was and its never been there since. I am now wondering whether it was the fact i had on at the beginning an underwired bra that was way too tight and it caused it. its the only thing i can honestly think of. The condition you talk about is quite rare..and honeslty i doubt you have it. I think they are just being cautious esp since you have different sizes of breasts. x

Aww hun, im sure its nothing serious and just an infection or something, but of course u are gonna worry, i hope the days go quick so u get ur scan and get the all clear xx

I had blocked and infected milk ducts in the second tri last time, and I can feel it happening again this time. Try getting in the bath and putting hot flannels on the red boob and massaging firmly from the outside of the breast towards the nipple.

It doesn't hurt at all normally, but it's a bit sore now from the doctor and me poking it at today. I'm hoping that it's just that the breast that's slightly larger is rubbing more on my bra than the smaller one, which is why it's gone slightly pink. Really wish I could have the ultrasound over and done with now!

Mine wasnt sore and it was red the whole time i was pregnant. I really think it will be something you have been wearing that has caused it and nothing to worry about. Goodluck with the scan though but im sure all will be fine.x

Inflammatory BC is so rare, I wouldn't worry about that at all. I think if your doc/midwife thought that's what it was they would've made you have an ultrasound immediately and not waited to schedule one either.

Keep us posted.

I called the hospital this morning and there had been a cancelation so going to have the scan in three hours. So glad I don't have to wait until Saturday. Hopefully I'll get the results straight away. Will let you know how I get on.

Oh just looked at the time you posted and see you havent been yet. Goodluck. x

Thanks for your messages. Turns out I have a small cyst on my left breast (the larger one) but on the opposite side of the redness. Doctor said it was harmless and nothing to worry about. And my breasts and generally a bit swollen but that's normal during pregnancy, apparently. So big sigh of relief! I'm back to being on cloud nine again after the anomoly scan!!! Bought my baby boy a teeny weeny pair of trainers this afternoon to celebrate! And I'm not googling again, ever!!

Congratulations on your good news. I am really pleased for you. Time to start looking forward to everything again! x

i have had this and it was a blocked milk duct that had become infected dont worry x

So glad everything went well...but i knew you would be fine. Pleased for you .xxx

Thank goodness, bet you're so relieved! Google is a Godsend sometimes but it can be the worst idea ever! xx
