Is is possible to do both formula and breast milk?

I'm now becoming very concerned with the SIDs risk, considering that I have had an issue with smoking and on Dans (the fathers) side of family there has been one SIDs case. I know the breast milk is much better for the baby and I was just wondering if maybe I could try to do both or if it needed to be one or the other. Also like I have said before with the issue of smoking, there is going to be nicotine in my system and the milk, will this lessen the healthiness of my milk. do any one know?

Nicotine stays in your breast milk for 90 mins so if you have a cigarette dont feed for 90 mins if you are that worried but my HV said Breast feeding outweighs the minimal amount of nicotine anyway. TBH I woudlnt worry too much.

Hope this helps
