Starting ivf next week, told that my pct only allows one embie on first cycle.... Feel gutted as I truly believe I have more chances with 2 back in. Has anyone had 2 put back in when the policy was 1? I am truly grateful for the funding and do feel positive but can't help but think this reduces my chances... Anyone had experience of this?

Much love and luck to all xxxx

no advice or experience, but just wondering if this is the policy for the second go if this cycle didnt work? I know multiple pregnancy are much higher risk so may be thats the reason.

I hope you find the answers you want.

wishing you loads of luck and sending baby dust and positive thoughts your way

And to you, thank you for your wishes. I hear that the second cycle allows 2 x x x

Hi hon

What PCT are you under? At my clinic I was told throughout the whole process that they have a very strict single embryo transfer policy ... right up until the day of transfer, when they said that they would transfer 2 embies in order to give me a better chance of getting a bfp.

Wishing you all the best for your ivf xx

Thanks hon... I am Hertfordshire - where are u?? xxx

I live in Hertfordshire and selected The Herts and Essex clinic in Cheshunt for our I.V.F treatment, I wasn't concerned about them only putting one back as I'm quite small and really didn't want twins, anyway we were very lucky and got pregnant on the first cycle with one! I wish you every luck, where are you getting your treatment?

I am going to H&E, had a good feeling about them!! Any tips or advice you can give me about them or your process. Wonderful about it working first time... brilliant!! I am trying to be positive, I am clear but DH has very low morphology so we are having ICSI... just can't imagine having 2 lines on that test! Did they insist on only putting one back? I prob sound like I am ungrateful but just want the best possible chance.. trying to chill! x

i know at my clinic they prefer to only put 1 back, but i knew i definitely wanted 2 putting back which they did. I think its more common them putting 2 back if you're over 35, which i'm assuming you're not. I would just speak to them and just express your concerns and tell them you'd prefer 2 putting back. Good luck to you :hugs:

I was told because I am young and healthy I can only have 1 put back and they wouldn't allow us to overule this becuase of the risk of multiple pregnancy x

I researched all the clinics and felt this one was the best I also spoke to them over the phone found them to be very friendly.

I simply can't tell you how well we were treated there, they made us feel at ease every visit and yes its hard its stressful the injections, drugs, scans and everything you go through just takes over your whole life, I followed all the instructions down to the letter, drank a lot of water, took prenatal vitamins, tried to stay calm and get plenty of rest, you are putting your body through a lot.

I was so tempted to take the test early and the wait was unbearable, I just had a feeling I was, but didn't want to jinx it incase I was wrong, it was the most amazing feeling seeing the positive result, but it has taken a long time to sink in, I thought it would at the first scan but I just couldn't believe it, now I can feel the baby move so I know it is there...

You will be in very safe hands at H&E :winkwink:

If you have any questions when you start you treatment, feel free to PM me.:hugs:

And good luck! :hugs:

Were you funded?x

Hi Noelle,

I know it seems like you have a better chance of getting pregnant if you transfer two, but check this out..

You only have a 5% greater chance of falling pregnant if you transfer two, than if you transfer one, but you have a 50% greater chance of twins.

Multiple pregnancies carry a lot more risk, so this is by far the better way to go. Most countries are starting to shift to single embryo transfer policies now.

Good luck with your cycle!:hugs:

Hi. I just started this process and can not do IVF till May or June because I just lost our baby at 14 weeks and my body needs to heal. However, my doctor told me that in your 20's they only put 2 back in you to reduce your chance of multiples. He said putting more than 2 is risky and less than 2 there is no point. Tell your doctor that that is not correct that he only wants to put one back in.

The papers i got said 1under 35 if you have more than 5 good embies.two allowed if you've had 2or more failed cycles and/or less than 4 good embies..... Check your papers there might be similar exceptions.i'm getting two as i had 2 failed cycles. X

Noelle1979 - I'm at H&E as well. They have said the same thing to me. As it is PCT funded there are the restrictions since we are under 35! I think it's just the way it is and, as others have said, it's to avoid multiple pregnancies.

What stage are you at at the moment? I started gonal-f for stimming yesterday after a scan.

Hello Mich

Great to hear from a fellow H&E lady.how are you finding it? I am on day 7 of suprecur at moment, waiting for AF to arrive, can feel it coming but no show yet!! How long did you have to wait until after your AF to start stimms?

Keen also to see how you are feeling? I go through.. this can't work first time to excited flutters but preserving myself I think.

PM if you like, be great to get in touch and see how you get along xx
