sma concerns

hi,

i was talking to a couple of mums at the playschool/school who have little 1s, about bottle feeding etc and they have got me slightly worried now.

i used sma with both my boys and had no problems, now these mums said that a batch of sma was recalled from boots/tesco/sainsburys etc about 6months ago due to traces of glass being found in 1 tin.

has anyone heard anything on this? i have 2 tins of sma gold bought from tesco 2months ago when it was on offer. do i risk it or tke it back or buy a different brand?

i dont want to scare any of you that are using this milk though.

Not heard of it but if your worried take it back to tescos they will know of any product recalls and barcodes ect ...

That's news to me!!! Morgan's been on SMA since birth... first Gold, then White (Hungry baby) and now Progress (follow-on) and I've NEVER seen any product recalls either in Boots/Co-op/Somerfield/Tesco/ASDA or in the press....

Infact, I'm a member of the SMA website, so I'd have even thought they'd have contacted members if there was a problem.


If I remember rightly, there was a recall a few years ago, but can't remember where I saw that???

I say keep the tins, they should be absolutely fine. But if you're at all unsure, give Tesco Customer Service a call and they should be able to tell you if there have been any recalls in the past.

If you go on the SMA website, there is a section for Product Recalls and the last one they had was over a year ago:

So I would say, don't worry about it!

OH said he thought it would have been in the paper etc. as long as not a recent recall i'm not worried.

The last recall I remeber involving glass was jarred baby food not milk. And this was a good couple of years ago. And the company wasn't SMA

I have also used SMA Gold have never seen any recalls

DH works for Tesco, and i'm sure he'd have mentioned it if he'd have seen anything as thats what we use.

Not heard it...We use SMA Gold, I'd have thought they would spread the news if it were to be true. xx
