Hi ladies

I am confused... SMA first milk has guidelines up to 1 year old, but the 2nd stage red one is from 6th months to complement weaning. Lo is only 4 months right now, but once she gets to 6 months which should she use??? Sorry, this is probably a really stupid question!

Hey hun, I think you use the follow on milks when they reach 6 months ? Or you can stick with the first milk for up to a year I think it's preference? xx

i went to a weaning workshop and was told i might aswell use the first milk till a year and follow on milk is just a marketing ploy and has one more thing in, (i think it was iron but cant remember) and that they get enough from food at that age
ill be sticking with first milk anyway, not doing with the hassle of changing :haha:

Follow on milk has twice the amount in nutrients in the same volume of milk. So it's good if LO's milk intake drops dramatically all of a sudden like Fran's did to make sure they are still getting everything they need from their milk. It's also supposed to fill LO up less so they gradually start eating more solids.

As a pp said it really is personal preference. You can get offers and loyalty points on follow on milk too so sometimes it's worth swapping just for that, but if LO is content on first milk then stick with it xx

My LO was drinking too often 1-2 hours max and nearly 8oz sma gold. So I moved him up to sma number 2 he goes for longer without drinking every 2 hours all day and night he is 4.5 months old.

Like everything these cartons are guidelines. Also, SMA number 2 stinks more I think its more creamy I just do cartons it seems more chunky if you know what I mean hence I think it fills his tummy up more......
