SMA website "welcome"??? !!!

This has really got to me too, just thought I would go on their website to make me feel better about deciding to bottle feed instead of breastfeed and that pops up!
Feeling really low about going onto bottle when LO isnt even 2 weeks old and you expect support from them websites not for them to "have a go" too :(

It is not their fault that they have to put it up on their website, they have to do it by law.

Have many of you that feel affected by not being able to BF thought about seeing a counsellor?

Sorry but what do you expect these websites to have to do to please everyone??? If they don't stick the information on the screen then they are breaking the law or promoting formula feeding too much, which they then are moaned by BF, but on the other hand if they do put the info up then formula feeders moan at them, they can't win. No doubt they would have consulted lawyers before placing the info on the screen.

Seeing as its a website for a FORMULA BRAND then wouldnt it be better to keep the FF mummies out there happy???
I understand that they have to put these disclaimers on there by law, but it could be worded differently!

As some others have said its a legal requirement that all formula companies do this and that they are not seen to be promoting forumla feeding in the first 6 months of a babies life. Im sure they dont want to do it the same way they have to make incredibly patronizing (to both ffers and bfers imo) adverts on TV but can only advertise stage 2 milk not stage 1 as that would be seen to be promoting it.

It's a legal issue hon. If you go on Aptamil and Cow and Gate they will have exactly the same.

Also I don't know if you have noticed, they cannot legally advertise formula milk from birth onwards, hence their adverts for formula are from 6 months onwards. It's government guidelines they have to adhere too.

Loz and Lily 2yrs and bump 29 weeks

I have ff one and am bf my youngest. I had to end up ff my first Lo due to him not latching on properly and lack of support. He was also lactose intolerant but we did not know this at the time of ff.
I think the advert was very good and raised some valid points. I did not find this insulting at all. i know people that top up with formula and their breast milk did increase and then ended up just ff.

Unless you have struggled with BF and are currently dealing with the guilt, as the ladies on here and the original poster are, then you can have no idea how upsetting a thing like that message is. It maybe true, it maybe the law, it may seem OK to you if you're BF'ing but to me and others it's like having something stabbed through your heart again and again every time you see it. I think the original poster just wanted to share the upset about being constantly reminded with people who understand - and we do. :hugs:

Please keep to the original posters concerns and why she was upset, she just wanted to express WHY she was for her not the whole world being put right.

I have cleared up some of the replies.
